We live in a world where a 1.5TB Seagate Baracuda hard drive costs only $95
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsStarting off your Tuesday with a quick deal. Amazon has a 1.5TB Seagate Baracuda (7200RPM, SATA II, 32MB cache) for $95—a full $100 off the regular price. Could make a fine storage drive, you know, for all those “digital photos” you have. Pretty sure “digital photos” is codeword for Blu-ray rips and the like. -
Time to make your “Move” and pre-order Sony’s latest gadget
Posted on June 16, 2010 | No Comments
Good news Sony fans, turns out that it's time to start warming up that credit card and ordering your PS3 Move controller. It's starting to show up as being available for pre-order (along with a few other tasty bits). Remember it'll be officially available in the US on September 19th, but you might want to pre-order since Sony kind of has a habit of running out of product when they first come out.

Nokia N8 launching August 24, we hear; Amazon Germany taking €470 pre-orders
Posted on May 21, 2010 | No CommentsWe know, we know, you were banking on taking an N8 with you when you go summering in Cape Cod in July, but that might be a tall order because we're hearing from a trusted source that August 24 has been pegged as the big release date for Nokia's Symbian^3-powered beast. Pricing had already been announced at €370 ($465), but if you're interested in shedding an extra hundred for no apparent reason, Amazon Germany is now officially taking pre-orders for €469.50 ($590) in black -- just one of the five N8 shades Espoo will be pushing around the world. We think we'd recommend holding off on signing up for Amazon's enticing deal here, quite honestly -- especially considering the magnetic attraction we've got to that totally unapologetic orange version.

Kindle for Android coming this summer
Posted on May 18, 2010 | No CommentsWhat was hinted at in those leaked Dell Streak flyers is now official: Kindle for Android. Unfortunately, it's not quite ready to download. Amazon's free Kindle ebook reader -- already out for Mac, PC, BlackBerry, and iDevices -- won't launch until later this summer. When it does, users of Android 1.6 and above (with SD card) will have the ability to search, browse, and purchase (without exiting the app) any of the half million books in the Kindle Store. Like the other apps, Kindle for Android features Whispersync to keep your bookmarks, last page read, notes, and highlights synchronized across all your Kindle-enabled devices. Expect to see this demonstrated at Google I/O starting tomorrow.Continue reading Kindle for Android coming this summer

Kindle update adds Facebook and Twitter interaction, password protection, and better PDF control
Posted on April 29, 2010 | No Comments
Not to be outdone by Nook, Amazon has released the Kindle 2.5 firmware. The new software adds a number of interesting features including the ability to share passages of books with your Facebook and Twitter friends providing that, unlike mine, yours are literate (don't worry, they won't be able to read this).
The firmware will launch later next month and includes the following features:
The 2.5 software update for Kindle and Kindle DX is coming soon. We are rolling out the new software update to a limited group of Kindle users and plan a broad release in late May 2010. Check back here for updates on the release schedule. Here's a list of the coming enhancements: Collections: Organize your books and documents into one or more collections. PDF Pan and Zoom: Zoom into PDFs and pan around to easily view small print and detailed tables or graphics.

Posted on April 28, 2010 | No Comments
Oops! Looks like someone spilled the news about HP's new Mini 210 netbook. The new netbook (if the site is to be believed) will be running the new Intel N455 chipset, the successor to the N450. The N455 runs at 1.55GHz, and is expected to support the newer DDR3 RAM.

Blizzard-ahoy on Amazon Gold Box deals
Posted on April 1, 2010 | No CommentsJust a friendly heads-up: today is Blizzard day on Amazon Deals or whatever it’s called. You know, new deals on the hour, every hour till 9pm PT. The deals are only revealed as they go live. I’m thinking Blizzard-related keyboards and mice and the like, probably even a game or two in there. -
Amazon’s convenient packaging hates hard drives
Posted on March 30, 2010 | No Comments
I like Amazon's "frustration free" packaging. When I ordered my copy of Command & Conquer 4, it came in that easy to open package, and it makes sense: why put a dvd in a box with a bag of air, and waste all that shipping? Would I trust a hard drive to that packaging? No way in hell.

On Amazon: Buy BioShock 2, get BioShock 1 for free
Posted on March 30, 2010 | No CommentsPretty neat deal on Amazon today. When you buy BioShock 2 (for Xbox 360), and add BioShock 1 to your shopping cart, you end up getting the latter for free. Or, in English, buy BioShock 2, get BioShock 1 for free! $60 for two pretty good games isn’t a bad deal at all. I don’t [...] -

Wanna read Kindle books on your iPad? Of course you do~! UPDATE
Posted on March 12, 2010 | No CommentsAll the Apple marks are excited about the iPad. Not me, but whatever. What I am excited about, though, is seeing consumers use the items they've bought in the manner of their choosing. Say you've bought a bunch of books from the Amazon Kindle store. (Don't tell Devin!) Those books are only "supposed" to work with the Kindle and the various Kindle readers, but with a bit of work you can read them wherever you want—yes, including on your iPad.
Notebook and netbook maker Asus is pre-installing the Amazon Kindle for PC application, allowing Asus owners to access Amazon's selection of e-books without having to suffer through the pain of software installation on their own time. Not much more to say about this, except that it further cements Amazon's hegemony in the e-book market. How will Barnes and Noble respond, I wonder?

Well look at this: new kid on the book, Barnes & Noble's
