AppMakr now supports GeoRSS tagging
Posted on June 21, 2010 | No Comments
AppMakr is a service that allows you to make simple, Internet-fed apps for the iPhone, Touch, or iPad. Historically, AppMakr has been called a glorified RSS reader but, with the addition of push notifications, a native image viewer, and GeoRSS support, they're trying to shake that image.
GeoRSS is the latest addition to the product and allows content providers to stick a little XML code into their feed to mark posts with GPS coordinates. You can then use the iOS's native map-handling to view these posts on Google Maps or within the app itself.

We covered AppMakr a few months ago and found that they were a fairly cool way to make simple iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch apps with a minimum of fuss. They've just announced that they hit 1 million downloads onall of their custom apps and have also announced a number of improvements to the service.
The service, to recap, allows you create simple apps consisting of RSS feeds and other pieces of data. You create the app online and "publish" it either privately or with their help.

AppMakr: Make your own iPhone apps for just two bills
Posted on January 6, 2010 | No Comments
What AppMakr lacks in vowels they make up for in coolness. AppMakr is a dead easy app design engine that allows you to enter a URL or search term, pick a few images, and publish an app to the App Store in a few minutes.
The service uses RSS feeds and searches to build a comprehensive feed of your website or "personal brand" that is updated automatically. You can then push the app live for $199 or download the app to your own machine for $499.
