Posted on March 9, 2010 | No Comments
Now we’re cooking with a substance that appears to be similar in smell, flame size, and cost per energy unit as “gas.” Asus’ impending Eee PC 1005PR is a 10.1-inch netbook with a 1366x768 resolution screen, Broadcom HD decoder chip, and up to 11 hours of battery life.

Asus wants your network to look fabulous
Posted on March 4, 2010 | No CommentsYou’ve been sitting there looking and looking at that horrible little while box that your assistant says is a “wireless rooter” and you are disgusted that this horrible thing has to even be in your house for the Internet let alone somewhere where you can see it. What do you do? You tell your assistant [...] -
The Asus Eee Keyboard will now be released in April 2010
Posted on March 2, 2010 | No Comments
It seems a little odd that we first saw the Eee Keyboard at CES 2009 and it's still not available. The demo that we played with at least seemed like it was nearly production ready. But here we are over a year later and now the Asus chairman is stating that the new release date is April 2010. Like we haven't heard that one before.

The Asus DR-900 ebook reader brings Wi-Fi and 3g to a 9-inch screen
Posted on March 2, 2010 | No Comments
The Kindle DX better watch its back. There's a new 9-inch ebook reader on the bus. The Asus DR-900 offers nearly everything that makes the Kindle DX special, a 9-inch E-ink screen, Wi-Fi, and optional 3G wireless, plus it has an SD card slot for further expansion over the 2GB built-in storage. But none of that matters. The Kindle DX still has something that's more important than those hardware specs. It has access to the Kindle Store.

Asus has the first Nvidia Optimus laptops~!
Posted on February 9, 2010 | No CommentsKudos, I guess, to Asus, being the first manufacturer to incorporate Nvidia's Optimus technology into actual products. The Taiwan-based company has announced five laptops (note: I refuse to use the term "notebook" when referring to laptops; I think the name "netbook" is dumb, too, so at least I'm consistent) that range in size from 13.3 inches to 17.3 inches, all of which use Optimus. "What is Optimus?" I'm glad you asked! It switches between the Nvidia GPU and the Intel integrated GPU as the situation warrants. So, using Firefox? Let the Intel handle it. Playing World of Warcraft? Nvidia takes over. It's not too hard to understand.

Asus beat to EEE Keyboard market by knockoff
Posted on January 26, 2010 | No Comments
Bad news for Asus, the EEE Keyboard that still hasn't been released yet was beaten to market by a clone. The knockoff version is made by the Chinese company Great Wall, and while the clone version did beat the original to market, there are some serious reasons to wait until Asus releases their version.

More pics of the Asus e-reader
Posted on January 22, 2010 | No CommentsWhile this will probably look primitive as heck in a few days, it’s fun to see Asus giving it their all in the ebook market. After all, we all need a 9-inch e-reader with a touchscreen in the end. Electricpig has a few more photos, but at this point these things are probably on the edge [...] -

Asus getting into the e-reader game in a big way
Posted on January 17, 2010 | No Comments
Asus leaked some information recently about their upcoming e-reader, the DR-570. Not content to be a "me too" with the standard black and white e-ink product, it looks like they are going to be coming out with an OLED offering that might just kick the rest of the e-readers to the curb.

Quick Look: ASUS NX90
Posted on January 5, 2010 | No CommentsThe ASUS NX90 looks like a monster. It has a full sized keyboard surrounded by a field of polished aluminum. There is no visible trackpad – just the metal – and you have another trackpad on the right side. The Band & Olufsen heritage is abundantly clear: this is a high end machine with quite [...]
