Nokia 5235 Comes With Music and a low price in Q1 2010
Posted on December 11, 2009 | No CommentsThe 5230 has only recently made its way out to stores, but that hasn't stopped Nokia from fashioning a KIRFy sort of successor for it. Meet the Nokia 5235, a spec for spec copy of its elder brother, including the same 3.2-inch touchscreen, 2 megapixel camera, and Symbian S60 5th edition. We thought we could spot a tiny difference in the materials being used, but otherwise you really are looking at the exact same handset. Your wallet would tell the difference, though, as the 5235 has a pre-tax and pre-subsidy price of €145 ($214), which is more than €100 cheaper than the previously noted 5230 CWM variant -- in other words, Nokia is renaming its CWM model and chopping the price nicely. Why, we don't know, but when is the first quarter of 2010.

Nokia X6 Comes with Music and capacitive touchscreen: shipping now

If you live in Finland or the UK and pre-ordered a X6 then you might be obliged to Nokia for having just set your new handset free. That's right pilgrims, Nokia's new flagship Comes with Music handset is now shipping. The X6 you'll recall, introduces S60 5th to a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen riding 32GB of storage, a 5 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, TV-out, and tweaked homescreen with a media/social-centric layout. The X6 lists for €450 (pre-tax and pre-carrier subsidies) -- a price that ultimately includes the cost of Nokia's struggling "all-you-can-eat" music service. Perhaps this is the device that finally gives the service legs? Maybe, but we'd start by following through on plans to strip the DRM.

Nokia X6 coming to Finland and the UK this Friday, other countries soon
Posted on November 24, 2009 | No CommentsNokia's just confirmed on its official blog that the X6 will hit shelves in Finland and the UK starting next week, with other countries to follow soon after. After hearing a while back that the touchscreen, Comes With Music-lover would be shipping around November 12th -- well, we didn't want to falsely get anyone's hopes up again. But now that the word is official, we can all sit back and behold the beauty that is the X6 -- with its 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera, and 32GB of onboard memory. The S60 (that's the 5th edition) device will be available in Nokia stores this Friday, retailing for £449 (about $742) free of contract.

Nokia grants service extension to early UK Comes With Music buyers

Being a serial early adopter can be a rough existence -- you pay more, you deal with more bugs, you stand in long lines (disproportionately in the cold, it feels like), and you deal with less-experienced customer service staff. Every once in a while, though, cosmic balance swings in the other direction and rewards you for all of your trials and tribulations. Take Nokia's Comes With Music service, for example, which is celebrating its one-year anniversary of British service by extending the original one-year agreement by an additional 90 days for those who were "among the first" to sign up. They're not specifying what the cutoff is here, but subscribers are being told to keep an eye on their email -- so get ready to enjoy another 90 days of unlimited download bliss.
