Apple CDMA iPhone 4 rumor given new wings
Posted on June 17, 2010 | No CommentsWith the iPad unicorn now slain, what other beast can DigiTimes shackle its rumor mongering machine to? How about Pegasus, the winged horse of Greek mythology (and inspiration for the ASUS company name), galloping forth with promises of a CDMA iPhone. According to the Taiwanese rumor rag, Pegatron (ASUStek's OEM manufacturing arm) will begin shipping a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 from its Shanghai plants to Apple in Q4. Right, just in time for the holiday shopping season and perfectly alligned with Apple's annual September iPod event... you know, should Apple want to announce a deal with Verizon.Apple CDMA iPhone 4 rumor given new wings originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 17 Jun 2010 07:41:00 EST. Rumor: Pegatron tapped for CDMA iPhone manufacture
Posted on May 12, 2010 | No Comments
The rumor mill is churning a bit more today with a brief piece on Digitimes about Pegatron, a Chinese electronics manufacturer, grabbing the contract for the manufacture of a CDMA iPhone compatible with, presumably, Verizon, Sprint, and international CDMA technologies.
Again, this is complete conjecture and Digitimes is often use to seed and power pump and dump scams, so we need to take things with a grain of salt. Generally, however, there is a grave confluence of "rumors" pointing to a potential Verizon iPhone but, as Sascha Segan, noted Verizon iPhone bear, tweeted yesterday, "Tomorrow you could be hit by a bus. And you'd have a lame phone. BC you were waiting for that Verizon IPhone."

HTC Passion runs Android on 3.5-inch OLED and Snapdragon in Verizon’s early 2010?
Posted on December 7, 2009 | No Comments
Ever since the WinMo-powered HTC HD2 started to drip, drip onto our pages in the form of leaked images and details, we've been asking ourselves one question: where's the Android version? And while we've heard whispers of a supposed Snapdragon-based Dragon device running Android ever since early October, we're left to rely on Motorola's Droid / Milestone to fulfill our Android 2.0 dreams this holiday season. And if DigiTimes is correct, that picture likely won't change until early 2010. Taiwanese DigiTimes' sources have its Taiwan-based neighbor launching its Passion handset running Android 2.0 (or even 2.1 by then) on a 1GHz Snapdragon chipset with 3.5-inch multitouch OLED display sometime in early 2010 (not 2009 as previously tipped) as HTC continues to tweak the device's software. And if previous rumors are true then this CDMA variant of Dragon will be making its debut on Verizon at that time. DigiTimes' sources also claim that HTC will announce a QWERTY-toting Android device, possibly named Espresso, at the huge Mobile World Congress event in February. Of course, all this is rumor for now so hold tight as HTC's roadmap unfolds.HTC Passion runs Android on 3.5-inch OLED and Snapdragon in Verizon's early 2010? originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 07 Dec 2009 02:15:00 EST. Samsung dropping Symbian for Bada in 2010, says senior VP
Posted on November 11, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Samsung, Symbian
Android is in, Windows Mobile is in (despite rumors to the contrary), and Bada is definitely in for next year, according to Samsung senior vice president Don Joo Lee. Not making the phone manufacturer's cut? Symbian. Digitimes has it from the exec that its new proprietary mobile OS will be taking the place of the Nokia-friendly platform. Hey, all the phones to end a legacy on, the Omnia HD certainly isn't a bad swan song.Samsung dropping Symbian for Bada in 2010, says senior VP originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Wed, 11 Nov 2009 01:14:00 EST.
