Live-action “Akira” is coming, and the Hughes brothers will direct it
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No CommentsOne of the best manga ever created, Akira, is going to the big screen. And this time, it won't be an anime (like the one from 1988) but a live-action film. We first reported about plans to shoot the live-action remake, whose rights were bought by Leonardo DiCaprio's production company, Appian Way, back in February 2008. The idea was scrapped a few months later, until New York Magazine wrote in February this year the studio is in negotiations with the Hughes Brothers (who directed "The Book Of Eli") to direct the movie.

Google setting up music store later this year, looking for search and Android synergy
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsRemember that chart that pointed out the differences between Google, Apple and Microsoft? Well, it's looking increasingly like Google is intent on filling any and all gaps in its portfolio. Those good old unnamed sources have been talking, originally to CNET last week and to the Wall Street Journal today, and disclosing Google's supposed intent to introduce its very own music store. This would initially encompass a web store where you can stream or download tracks, with a search tie-in that'll get your money into Google's pocket in the fastest possible way. Subsequent plans are said to include Android integration in 2011 -- something that Google rather nonchalantly demoed at its I/O conference last month. Of course, none of this is as yet confirmed, but it looks like Apple and Google will be competing across yet another front -- hold on tight.Google setting up music store later this year, looking for search and Android synergy originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 22 Jun 2010 08:54:00 EST. Not as cool as Gundam, but: Watch Gigantor protecting Kobe (video)
Posted on April 7, 2010 | No CommentsRemember Gigantor? Remember last October, when the Japanese city of Kobe erected a 18m high statue of the giant anime robot? Granted, the robo statue is nowhere near as big as its Gundam counterpart, but it's still pretty cool.

Record sales, down. Game sales, down. Video sales, down. VHS sales… up?
Posted on March 24, 2010 | No CommentsI assumed that VHS tapes had gone the route of Polaroid film and were continuing to be phased out of existence. I must have been too hasty, because according to the Entertainment Retailer’s Association, videocassette sales in Britain have more than doubled in the past year. In the grand scheme of home entertainment, these numbers are [...] -

New Prince of Persia trailer looks awesome
Posted on March 3, 2010 | No Comments
In November last year, we've shown you not one but two trailers for the Prince of Persia movie, and both turned out to be quite decent. And this third full-length trailer (courtesy of IGN) for one of this summer's blockbusters doesn't look too shabby either.

No doubt,
