Posted on February 15, 2010 | No Comments
Sound the nerd alert: the Supine Reading Glasses from Hammacher Schlemmer let you read a book while flat on your back. That’s right, no more holding the book above your head. Just hold it upright and let the “two optical-quality glass prisms” bend your vision 90 degrees.

So what were the ‘Happy 2010!’ glasses like?
Posted on January 1, 2010 | No CommentsHappy 2010, people who count from Anno Domini using the Gregorian calendar! I greeted the new year by saying, sometime well after midnight, “Oh, it's 2010 already.” I was playing the PC version of Call of Duty 4, which is demonstrably better than the Xbox 360 version I played two years ago. But that's not the point of this here post. No, for I have one question to ask of the people who did go outside and celebrate: what were the “Happy 2010!” glasses like?

Review part deux: Gunnar Optiks
Posted on December 7, 2009 | No Comments
Just a quick post to provide a little more detail to David's review of Gunnar Legends computer glasses, to provide a non-gamer point of view. I've been using the same model on and off for a couple of weeks, too. Unlike David, I hardly ever play games. Instead, I use the Gunnar glasses to look at laptop and desktop computer screens, which are usually three or four feet from my face. Instead of staring at moving images, I stare at mostly text all day. Also, I wear contact lenses because my vision is pretty bad.

It’s a light that clips onto your glasses. I can’t really think of a witty title.
Posted on October 8, 2009 | No Comments
The latest in German engineering, the Nachteule ("night owl" for you non-German-speakers) is a handy little LED light that clips to your glasses for those late night-reading sessions. It looks a bit unwieldy, but I'm sure it'll get the job done. So will a flashlight. Or using your phone. Or turning the light on.

In the photo above, you can see them in the "active" state, helpfully reminding me that it's time to blink. Click on through for a thrilling video of Wink Glasses in action! HOT!

Hint: Only wear the Wink Glasses when in the comfort of fellow nerds
Posted on July 30, 2009 | No Comments
I'm guessing most of us have experienced the sensation of our eyes glossing over and and losing the ability to focus on the computer screen. It feels like your looking at Magic Eye art, almost like you're looking through the screen. It usually happens after staring at the computer screen for endless hours during an all-nighter LAN party or while sitting in a cubical, mindlessly calling people to refi their mortgage with you. (experience talking there) These Wink Glasses aim to solve that issue by forcing your eye blink. Neat.
