Sega says Nintendo 3DS will bring back mature gamers. But let’s not confuse ‘mature’ games with ‘violent’ games.
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No CommentsSega believes the Nintendo 3DS could be just the thing to win back the hearts and minds of older, more mature gamers, the implication being that your average 20-something doesn't want to play Mario Does His Taxes 8. Games like House of the Dead and Saint's Row were two of the game that Sega referred to in a recent interview.

If Nintendo ‘won’ E3 then where does that leave Apple?
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsThere were two big pieces of news at E3 last week: the ceaseless march toward 3D gaming and the unrelenting encroachment of motion control upon our lives. I honestly couldn't give a toss about 3D gaming because if I wanted 3D entertainment I'd talk to a human being. Same thing with motion control: it doesn't bother me because I want nothing to do with it (outside of dancing the Macarena when asked to “freestyle”). It'd be like getting angry because it's hot on Venus: what? Exactly. One thing I did notice: what happened to all of that hubbub about “Apple being the new Nintendo”?

Spotted on eBay: Nintendo 64DD and all the games starting at $500
Posted on June 21, 2010 | No CommentsMany of the eBay auctions we write about are sorta “meh,” but this one gets the incredibly valuable Nicholas Deleon award of “hey, this is pretty neat.” It’s a Nintendo 64DD and every single game released for it. The bidding is currently at $500, or you can Buy It Now™ for $1,300. Come on, Mega [...] -
The top five unanswered questions about the Nintendo 3DS
Posted on June 15, 2010 | No Comments
The Nintendo 3DS is real -- we know that. The 3D works well -- we know that, too. But that's where our 3DS knowledge stops. Nintendo isn't talking-up 3DS details right now and we have so many questions about the handheld 3D gaming.

Hands-on: 3DS hardware and gaming impressions
Posted on June 15, 2010 | No CommentsWe got our hands on the 3DS this morning at Nintendo’s press conference, but it wasn’t exactly a proper hands-on. It was just a simple demo to basically show that it works. Well, I just waited in a huge line that snaked around Nintendo’s E3 booth for over an hour to spend some quality time [...] -

That means you can watch live when the festivities start at 9am PDT. How exciting. Click through for the video feed. Live video by Ustream -
Too much WWDC? There’s always this charming little video of kids acting out SMB
Posted on June 7, 2010 | No CommentsThere’s always a good number of readers who complain ruefully about WWDC days. It’s Apple this and Apple that, right? Well, how about some kids named Ryker and Raiden (!!?) pretending to be Mario and Luigi while their parents act out the roles of Goomba, Princess Peach, and Bowser? It’s 6 minutes long and you generally [...] -
Greenpeace says Nintendo is the worst company on Earth, tells Dell to clean up its act
Posted on May 26, 2010 | No CommentsGreenpeace's relentless march toward reminding us that we're killing the planet continues. The organization released its annual "Who's Green?" list yesterday, and Nokia and Sony Ericsson get A+ marks, while Lenovo and Nintendo are, apparently, the dregs of society. Also on the wrong side of Greenpeace: Dell. The Texas-based company found itself on the wrong end of a rather impressive Greenpeace action yesterday. Oh, dear...

Nintendo trademarks “3DS” among others
Posted on May 18, 2010 | No Comments
Backstory: A Nintendo suit said a while back that the company hasn't announced the official name yet for its upcoming handheld 3D gaming device. This of course suggests that 3DS isn't the official name.
Well, that might not be true if Nintendo's recent trademark filings have anything to say about it.

The Nintendo 3DS won’t be called the 3DS
Posted on May 11, 2010 | No Comments
This is strange. Apparently Nintendo has yet to announce the formal name of its upcoming portable 3D gaming device. That means the clever 3DS name we've come to know isn't the real thing. But seriously, is there a name better than 3DS seeing as it's a 3D version of the DS? Unless it's nothing like the DS...maybe this wasn't a fan-made mock-up after all.

Wii Controller Demo gets active, Android and Wiimote handle Donkey Kong on video
Posted on May 9, 2010 | No CommentsWe knew the Wii Controller Demo app (now known as "Wii Controller IME") was close to being able to interact with Android in a meaningful way, but we certainly didn't expect to see Average Joes playing Donkey Kong on their Nexus One devices this soon. Not that we're kvetching or anything -- and in fact, we'd argue that this landed at a perfect time for you hard-workin' Android owners to give this all a spin over the weekend. Jump on past the break for a look at the setup procedure as well as bona fide proof that a Wiimote and Android can indeed work together for the greater good. Mind those coconuts, though.
