B&N Confirms New $149 NOOK Wi-Fi, Drops 3G Model Price To $199

Barnes & Noble has just confirmed the NOOK Wi-Fi at $149, and a new lower price for its NOOK 3G model at $199.
Engadget had earlier today posted a screenshot sent in by a reader that effectively showed a Nook WiFi coming out on Wednesday at the now announced price point.

Nook passes Kindle sales in March

Well look at this: new kid on the book, Barnes & Noble's Nook ereader, just surpassed Amazon Kindle sales in March. Obviously the Nook is a bit newer than the Kindle and those who were going to buy a Kindle probably have already, but it also looks like B&N's retail network is also driving sales.
Digitimes reports that 53% of e-book readers shipped were Nooks while 1.43 million ereaders were sold in Q1 2010. They're estimating that total ereader sales will reach 11 million by year's end.

Barnes & Noble stores aren't going to be the only place you can snag a Nook soon. Nope, it seems that the boys in blue will be hawking the ereader starting April 18. Apparently the units are even in the backrooms of some retail outlets right now so who knows, some might slip onto the show floor by accident before the 18.

Barnes & Noble launches Affiliate Program, will pay 6% commission on nook sales

According to Best-eReaders.com, Barnes & Noble just sent out an email to its business partners, announcing that will start paying a 6% commission fee on sales of nook devices, ebooks, warranties and accessories.
Commissions will be paid on shipped orders only.

Barnes and Noble to sell the Samsung E6 ebook reader this spring

The Nook is soon going to have a bit of competitino on its home playing field when the Samsung E6 reader hits shelves this coming spring. Although it probably doesn't have much to worry about. We spent sometime with the slider at CES and can't see any reason why most consumers would opt for the $399 reader instead of the hot Nook.

Author Solutions To Distribute Indie E-Books Through B&N Website, Nook

Fresh off the heels of a distribution agreement that brought many of e-books in its catalog to Scribd, indie book publisher Author Solutions (ASI) has inked a similar deal with bookseller Barnes & Noble.
Under terms of the agreement, e-book formats of all new ASI titles published through the AuthorHouse, iUniverse, Trafford Publishing, and Xlibris imprints will be made available for purchase through the B&N website on its nook reader.

Speed up your Nook with firmware v1.2 right now

Early reports indicate that pages load noticeably faster and the touchscreen screen interface is a bit more responsive. Unfortunately there isn’t a way to force the update. You just going to have to wait until your Nook says there’s an update available.
