HTC Aria slipping out early into AT&T stores
Posted on June 18, 2010 | 1 CommentGood news, Android fans! HTC's Aria -- arguably the first Google-fied phone on AT&T worth caring about -- is seemingly slipping onto carrier floors a few days early. As the story goes, the Sense-equipped, Android 2.1-powered handset was supposed to go on sale this Sunday, but based on these unboxing shots from a giddy tipster, it's clearly ready to be procured early in some locations. Still unsure if it's worth your $129.99 on contract? Have a peek at our review right here.
Update: We're also hearing through the grapevine that these are in stock in certain Best Buy Mobile locations.

Samsung Wave brings Bada to Europe today, everyone else told to wait
Posted on May 24, 2010 | No CommentsSamsung's Wave (otherwise known as the 8500) may not be coming to Vodafone UK until June 1st, but it's available somewhere in Europe starting today. According to a new release from the outfit (seen in full after the break), today marks the first day in which its first Bada-equipped smartphone is available in Europe, with Germany, France and the UK mentioned in particular. We're also told that the "complete Bada SDK 1.0.0 will be available for download shortly," and while pricing details weren't discussed, the Wave should ride to Southeast Asia, China, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America in short order. Don't everyone cheer at once, okay?Continue reading Samsung Wave brings Bada to Europe today, everyone else told to wait

Sprint BlackBerry Bold 9650 goes on sale a little early
Posted on May 17, 2010 | No CommentsIt looks like Sprint couldn't wait to share its version of the BlackBerry Bold 9650 with the world -- it went on sale online today, a week before its scheduled May 23rd launch. You're looking at $199 on a two-year deal, but unless you're dying for a new 'berry we can't say we're finding this Tour-with-an-optical-pad even remotely as exciting as the EVO 4G, which is due on June 4. But it's still quite handsome, right? That's... something.

BlackBerry Curve 8530 now available on Sprint
Posted on December 18, 2009 | No CommentsWhat's this we see here? Looks like the Curve 8530 has made it to Sprint after all. When all is said and done, she'll cost you $50 with a new contract (after mail in rebate). Featuring a 2.5-inch display, OS 5.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and glorious, glorious WiFi, this is a solid, sensible device. Besides, if you wanted pizazz, you'd be looking at a Pureness right now. That, or you could always do a number on this guy with some Swarovski crystals and a hot glue gun -- but please, don't.

Palm Pre slips to $80 on contract, makes the Pixi that much less attractive
Posted on November 19, 2009 | No CommentsMan, the Pixi has a tough life. For starters, it launches at a price point that simply makes no sense when you consider that the Pre could be had for the exact same price via third-party channels. Next, Palm's second-ever webOS device falls to just $25 on contract, making it worth a glance once more. Nary two days later, Amazon has chopped the price of the Pre to just $79.99 with a 2-year contract, and to boot the $36 activation fee is being waived. We always heard sibling rivalries were the worst -- guess mum wasn't kidding around.Palm Pre slips to $80 on contract, makes the Pixi that much less attractive originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 19 Nov 2009 09:05:00 EST. Motorola CLIQ lands in T-Mobile USA stores today
Posted on November 2, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Motorola, T-Mobile, GSM, EDGE, HSDPA, Android
Motorola's Android-laden CLIQ has been available to existing T-Mobile USA users for a hot minute now, but not until today has the handset been widely available to all that care to take notice. Of course, the proper launch has been dampened somewhat by the emergence of the DROID (alongside Android 2.0), but hey, MOTOBLUR ain't nuthin' to scoff at, right? Feel free to locate your nearest T-Mob retail location, waltz in with $199.99 and get yours today.Motorola CLIQ lands in T-Mobile USA stores today originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Mon, 02 Nov 2009 14:33:00 EST. Palm Pixi on sale November 15 exclusively at Sprint for $100 on contract
Posted on October 26, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Palm, Sprint, EV-DO, CDMA, webOS
Just as we'd heard earlier this morning, today's the day that Palm and Sprint come clean with their undercover plans for the former's second-ever webOS device. The Pixi, which we toyed with back on our first Engadget Show, is slated to hit Sprint stores, Best Buy, RadioShack and select Walmart locations on November 15th for $99.99, but that's after a $50 instant rebate and a $100 mail-in rebate that you'll be waiting ages for. Nothing here is all that surprising -- after all, we knew it'd be on shelves before the holiday season -- but the $100 price point is downright depressing. The Palm Pre can be had right now for just $150 (also on contract), and beyond that, both webOS devices are being offered on the exact same network. Throw this thing on Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile, and you've got a whole new wave of Palm customers; as it stands, who's really buying this with the Pre just $50 away?Palm Pixi on sale November 15 exclusively at Sprint for $100 on contract originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Mon, 26 Oct 2009 10:27:00 EST. Sprint HTC Hero now on sale to everyone
Posted on October 11, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, HTC, Sprint, Android
Sure, you've been able to get it a little early in one way or another, but the Sprint HTC Hero officially launched today, which means a second US carrier is now selling an Android device. High five. Now, is anyone spending the $179 ($479 off-contract)? And Sprint customers, we have to ask: Hero or Pre?

Anxious Sprint users ordering HTC Hero now through telesales
Posted on October 8, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, HTC, Sprint, EV-DO, CDMA, Android
Too impatient to wait for October 11th to arrive? Yeah, we feel you. If you're up with killing a few minutes and dealing with what may end up being four or five CSRs, word on the street has it that the Android-powered Hero can be ordered this very moment via Sprint telesales. A number of members over at Sprint Users have had success in getting the phone headed their way, and one even mentioned that his SERO plan was set to remain firmly in place even with this new phone on the bill. Let us know if you stumble across similar luck in comments below, won't you?
