Dell Streak car and AV docks now on sale, HDMI may or may not be included

Hey England, in need of some retail therapy after an unsatisfying sporting weekend? Dell's got the goods for you with a rich new selection of cables, plugs, adapters, and cases for your new Streak. It looks like the HDMI dock we've been jonesing for has probably become a retail reality, but there's no way to be sure right now -- Dell's only listing an AV dock without going into the TV connectivity options. The fresh offerings also include the kickstand-equipped wallet case that we found intriguing, spare battery and sync cables, and an international travel kit. Of course, every silver lining has a cloud, which in this case is the pricing: nothing here costs less than £24 ($35) and the car- and TV-enabling docks will set you back a cool £55 ($80) each. Jumbo smartphone, jumbo accessory prices.

    [Thanks, Kingsley]

    Thanko’s USB-powered foot switch pedal

Long time no hear from Tokyo-based USB gadget maker Thanko. The company today announced foot switch pedals [JP] for use with Windows XP, 7 or Vista machines (I am aware this isn't a world's first, but the last Thanko post was too long ago). Just assign any key on your keyboard to one of the pedals, and you won't need your fingers to press that key ever again.

Toshiba’s 64GB SDXC card to finally go on sale (in Japan)

Remember way back in August last year, when Toshiba announced the "world's first 64GB SDXC card"? Well, actually Panasonic was faster (even though that company waited until January this year with its announcement), and it already has been selling their own 64GB card [JP] in Japan since February. But starting this Saturday, Japanese users can choose between that and the Toshiba card, as announced [JP] by Toshiba today.

Quick hands on with the Vizit cellular connected touchscreen photo frame

The Vizit photo frame is an interesting twist on conventional photo frames. Forget about setting it up over Wi-Fi or USB—this thing connects to AT&T’s network and pulls in photos sent via e-mail, MMS, browser upload, Photobucket, and Flickr. I had a chance to play around with a beta version of the frame, so this isn’t [...]

AT&T’s CEO (of all people): iPad will be driven by Wi-Fi, not 3G

As everybody knows by now, Apple ships the iPad in the Wi-Fi version this month, with the 3G subscription-based model following in April (probably). And as it's AT&T that has secured the right to provide 3G connectivity to iPad users in America, you'd think Randall Stephenson, AT&T's CEO, would be the first person to promote sales of the 3G model. But it's Stephenson who is now quoted as saying that he doesn't expect "(...) a lot of people out there looking for another subscription (...)" and that the iPad wil mainly be a "Wi-Fi driven product". He made the remarks during a webcast of an investor conference yesterday, adding the iPhone, on the other hand, will continue to play an important role for AT&T "for quite some period of time".

Sony’s gaming headset rocks the modern design

Sony just launched a new gaming headset line in Asia, and they look nice. I'm not entirely sure how comfortable they are based on the rendering, but they certainly look lighter than most headsets. Expect to see them in Asia this month, and hopefully Sony will bring them over to us sooner rather then later. No word on pricing at this time.
