Yes~! There will be Independence Day sequels, Will Smith will be all over them

Nice, another sci-fi movie story. 'tis a grand day, indeed. The story is a two-parter: one, there will be an Independence Day 2 and Independence Day 3. That's insane enough. Two: Will Smith will be in both. Loving the creativity coming out of Hollywood these days.

Battlefield: Earth writer says sorry to all of Planet Earth

Contrition is a wonderful thing. Now, I'm not the biggest sci-fi guy here, but even I know that Battlefield: Earth ranks among the worst films ever created—some would even say that it is the single worst movie in the history of cinema. That may well be, but the gentleman who penned the original script has now, on the record, officially apologized to mankind for helping to create the movie. That's called integrity, folks.

The 10 best Sci-Fi movies of the past decade

It's the end of the year. There's pretty much zero tech news to discuss (CES is right around the corner, so companies are holding out), and all we want to do is play in the snow. So if you have any confidence that this planet is safe from giant space objects smashing into the surface, possibly destroying all life in the process, well, think again.

Video play-by-play: The first seven minutes of the new sci-fi TV show ‘V’

To paraphrase the great Joe Rogan, from last Saturday's UFC 104, I don't watch much TV, maybe the Discovery Channel here and there to see a documentary or two. I bring this up because I've been told to write about some TV show called “V,” and the beauty is that I have no idea what it's about! My first thought was, “V For Vendetta? Oh, no? Oh, well, then yeah, not a clue.” Apparently it's a re-make of an old sci-fi show. Thankfully, though, ABC, the network where this show will air here in the U.S., has just posted the first seven minutes online. Let's watch it, together!

District 9 director hasn’t totally ruled out returning to Halo movie

Not too long ago, we gave our thoughts on the movie District 9. We did so because it was a big sci-fi movie, and that's just close enough to the tech-science nexus on which we operate that it justified a quick post. Seeing as though it's the weekend, and you really all ought to be watching La Liga or playing 360/PS3, we'll just take two minutes to highlight this interview with the movie's director, Neill Blomkamp.
