LG’s $100 Ally crashing Verizon stores on May 20th, pre-orders start tomorrow (update: now with specs)
Posted on May 12, 2010 | No CommentsWe had a hunch that LG's Android 2.1-based Ally would see its first customers on May 20th, and Verizon Wireless has finally opened up and confirmed as much this morning. The Iron Man 2-infused smartphone -- which we spent some time with yesterday -- will be available in all VZW stores beginning May 20th, with pre-orders going live for phone and web customers tomorrow. We've already given you the rundown when it comes to specs (they're after the break for those with memories shorter than their shoelaces), but now we're able to confirm that it'll sell for $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and a new two-year contract. A well-specced Android smartphone for under a Benjamin? Not bad, LG.
Update: Nothing in particular to write home about, but LG has just unveiled the Ally's nearly complete spec sheet. Nokia N97 Mini now shipping to American lovers, haters
Posted on December 2, 2009 | No Comments
The miniaturized version of Nokia's N97 began shipping to eager consumers in Europe in late October, but for those unable to save their pennies in America while waiting for the N900, today's the day to unload. As of right now, the (obviously unlocked) N97 Mini is shipping from both Dell and Amazon here in the States, with the former offering it for $430 (after coupon) and the latter selling it for $479.99. Any takers? Or has the full-sized N97 already claimed that piece of your heart?Nokia N97 Mini now shipping to American lovers, haters originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 02 Dec 2009 21:59:00 EST. Rejoice! BlackBerry support arrives on Celio REDFLY
Posted on November 3, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Peripherals, RIM, BlackBerry OS
We heard it'd be here in mid-Q4, and sure enough, it's here. And by "it," we mean "BlackBerry support for Celio's largely unwanted REDFLY Mobile Companion." Starting today, those looking for the Foleo's long lost cousin can snap up a REDFLY and download a free driver that adds compatibility for RIM's BlackBerry Bold 9000, Curve 8900 and Tour 9630. Granted, it's not like the BlackBerry web browser will be any less painful to use on an enlarged screen, but hey, whatever suits your fancy.

Nokia’s N97 mini gets its shipping papers
Posted on October 28, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Nokia, Symbian, GSM, EDGE
Right on cue, the smaller-but-just-barely N97 mini is now ready for public consumption over in Europe. Granted, we're certainly at the tail end of October, but we can't say that we caught Nokia in a lie or anything based on what was said last month in Stuttgart. You've already committed the specifications to memory and read all about firmware 2.0, so now all that's left to do is run along, fork out €450 ($667) and wonder forever if this decision will positively or negatively change the course of your life.Nokia's N97 mini gets its shipping papers originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Wed, 28 Oct 2009 14:31:00 EST. Anxious Sprint users ordering HTC Hero now through telesales
Posted on October 8, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, HTC, Sprint, EV-DO, CDMA, Android
Too impatient to wait for October 11th to arrive? Yeah, we feel you. If you're up with killing a few minutes and dealing with what may end up being four or five CSRs, word on the street has it that the Android-powered Hero can be ordered this very moment via Sprint telesales. A number of members over at Sprint Users have had success in getting the phone headed their way, and one even mentioned that his SERO plan was set to remain firmly in place even with this new phone on the bill. Let us know if you stumble across similar luck in comments below, won't you?
