XM Radio Online down. Again. Sigh.
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No CommentsAnd look at that, XM Radio Online is down for the second time this week. That’s as of 11:15am ET. Good thing we’re paying for this, right guys? (For the record, I’m trying to access XMRO using Radium for Mac OS X, my iPod touch, and the Web site. All down. Lovely.) Update: Success! As of [...] -
Hey, Sirius XM: Can you get your act together and fix your online stream? That would be neat.
Posted on June 21, 2010 | No CommentsHere's a “shout out” to the fine people at Sirius XM. You pay for a service with the expectation that it, you know, occasionally works as advertised, right? Not Sirius XM, the company that's fine with people overworking for years so long as they don't ask for a marginal(in the grand scheme of Howard Stern and Oprah and MLB contracts) raise! How many times per week does the online stream die? I'm thinking at least three to five times.

Sirius XM Android app hits the Market
Posted on May 28, 2010 | No CommentsThat's right, we're downloading the brand new Sirius XM app to our favorite, not-at-all-fragmented Android handset as we speak. Sure, we don't actually have a paid satellite radio subscription, but if you hit up the source link you can sign up for 7 days free while you multitask it up against Robo Defense on your own phone. There's no mention on the download page of specific handset compatibility, so let us know if you have any trouble running the app on that Motoblur phone your mom bought you.

Save Dave: Twitter campaign rallies around Sirius XM’s Ron and Fez producer
Posted on May 24, 2010 | No CommentsThere's a campaign brewing on Twitter that really ought to be highlighted, if only because it shows the power (well, potential power) of the site. Dave McDonald, a producer on the Ron and Fez show on Sirius XM (and part-time inventor), needs a raise. He needs a raise because he has a growing family to support. But let's not even bring up personal reasons. The man deserves a raise because he's a fantastic asset to the Ron and Fez show and to Sirius XM as a whole. Without a raise, Dave will have to leave the show, which is incredibly disappointing. He's a producer of the highest caliber—competent producers don't grow on trees, otherwise terrestrial radio might not be as dead as it is today—and yet he earns little more than an intern. If this were 20 years ago we might see picket lines forming outside the Sirius XM studios in New York, but because this is 2010, fans have turned to Twitter to send Sirius XM management a very clear message: Save Dave, Pay The Man.

SIRIUS XM Radio to hit Android in May
Posted on April 23, 2010 | No Comments
Finally, SIRIUS XM says it will soon release a free Android app that will enable DROID and Nexus One owners - among others - to enjoy access to over 120 channels of sports, talk, entertainment, news, comedy and commercial-free music.
For now, you can only download apps for iPhone, iPod touch and BlackBerry smartphones.
The satellite radio broadcaster says it will release the Android app some time in May this year, and all users of the SIRIUS XM App will receive a 7-day free trial of the SIRIUS XM Premium Online service to boot.

Free Sirius XM for a month? Sure, why not!
Posted on April 20, 2010 | No CommentsFree Sirius XM for a month, amigos! That is to say, free Opie & Anthony and Ron & Fez for 30 days. It's the company's latest promotional tactic to get you to pony up the $15 or whatever a month for the service. A test drive, if you will.

Hulk Hogan gets his own show on Sirius XM, brother
Posted on April 9, 2010 | No CommentsWhatcha gonna do, brother, when you sign a one-year contract with TNA Wrestling, but still want to keep your name in the news? You get a radio show on Sirius XM, of course, dude. That's right: starting this Monday, you, me, and anyone else with Sirius XM will be able to hear Hulk Hogan—wait, wait, Terry (I forgot, I'm shooting just like they do in TNA)—at 7pm ET on Howard 101. It's called "Hulk Hogan: Uncensored," and I'm looking forward to hearing him explain how he wrestled more than 400 nights per year back in the 1980s. Yes, he actually claimed that in his latest book. Ridiculous.

Sirius XM proves its worth this week with Winter Music Conference broadcasts
Posted on March 23, 2010 | No CommentsThere's one week per year that there's reason to listen to Sirius XM beyond XM Channel 202 The Virus. That's right, it's Winter Music Conference time, a time when the world's top DJs and producers descend upon Miami and have themselves a good ol' Dionysian time. House music, trance, progressive, Dutch tourists trying to find food that won't kill them, etc. It's a good example of what satellite radio could have been.

Yes! Another Ron and Fez Twitter party, this time for The Oscars!
Posted on March 4, 2010 | No CommentsRon and Fez, the fantastic Sirius XM radio show that makes my day every day, will host the world's first second Twitter party on Sunday! It's a follow-up to last month's Super Bowl Halftime Show Twitter Party, which was pretty much a gigantic success. What's being celebrated this time around? The Oscars (gi gi gi)! It gets even better: a live radio show will actually accompany the Twitter party. I'm excited.

Ron and Fez’s Twitter party, the world’s first, was a huge success
Posted on February 8, 2010 | No CommentsLast night's Super Bowl was pretty amazing. That seems to be the general reaction, at least. But you know what was just as amazing, if not more amazing? The Ron & Fez Twitter party, which I'm pretty sure was the very first organized Twitter party in history. Is there a FourSquare for that?

World’s first Twitter party? Ron and Fez Super Bowl Twitter party this Sunday (and you can win knissors!)
Posted on February 5, 2010 | No CommentsThis may be a first: a Twitter Super Bowl party! Sirius XM's Ron and Fez is having some sort of Twitter party celebrating The Big Game. Trivia, prizes, virtual booze, Chris Stanley passed out at a speakeasy in Long Island City—what more could you want? Oh, that's not enough for you? Then how about a pair of knissors signed by East Side Dave McDonald, whom I interviewed last summer?

Whoa, a Sirius XM App for the BlackBerry? Rumor has it!
Posted on January 13, 2010 | No CommentsWill there be a Sirius XM App for the BlackBerry? According to the always-great Orbitcast, yes! Rumor has it that it'll be available this month, and that it will be pretty damn similar to the iPhone App. No Howard Stern, then. No big loss.
