Amazing. That was probably what a lot of people saw when the amazing sink hole picture surfaced. It was for me. That and Dune's sandworm.

I don't know if it's more sad: someone actually owns that many Star Wars LEGOs or that I'm jealous. Either way, the video is awesome. Well done, kind sirs. Well done.

From 1978: Unbelievable Japanese “Star Wars” TV spot for “sea chicken”
Posted on February 2, 2010 | No Comments
Star Wars has always been popular in Japan, so seeing Luke Skywalker et al. in a Japanese TV commercial from the 1970s isn't a big deal in itself. But seeing the Star Wars franchise being used for promoting "sea chicken" (canned tuna) is kind of unusual.
Needless to say, the gaijin acting in the TV spot, which was first aired on Japanese TV in 1978, are just look-alikes. And apparently, "sea chicken" maker Hagoromo Foods has used the Star Wars setting without getting a license from Lucasarts. Different times back then, I guess.
TV spot after the jump.

Video: Star Wars text crashes down on Earth like alphabetical asteroids
Posted on February 1, 2010 | No CommentsI have NO idea how the text from the opening credits of Star Wars made its way to our galaxy. It’s supposed to all be far, far away! And what are the odds that it’d find its way into Earth’s gravitational pull, only to come raining down on an unassuming suburb? If only the Starship [...] -

Star Wars Play-Doh: May the Force be pliable and starchy smelling
Posted on January 21, 2010 | No Comments
This Star Wars Play-Doh playset is for ages three AND UP – you’re all part of “and up” unless you’re a really smart baby who reads tech blogs for some reason. If you are such a baby, please apply for an internship. We’ll take anybody – anybody – who can appeal to toddlers. That’s a huge, untapped demographic for us and it’d be nice to write for people at or around our same level of intellect, maturity, and tableside manners.
The Three Wolves shirt gained fame after it started collecting a bunch of clever reviews, and quickly became a bona fide meme. Once that happened, meta-memes sprang up around it. I liked the broken images variant the best. That is, until today, when I saw the Three Ewok shirt pictured here!
