Toshiba announces Tecra M11 notebook

It’s been a while since Toshiba unveiled their M10 and A10 computers in 2008, but Toshiba finally released the specs on their new M11 business notebook. The M11 features a 14-inch anti-glare display, Intel Core i3/i5 dual core processor, up to 3 GB DDR3 RAM and either Intel HD or an NVIDIA NVS 2100M graphics card. It also comes with a 320GB 7200RPM hard drive, a DVD Super-Multi drive, and Bluetooth/WiFi connectivity.

There's just one Android phone currently available in Japan, one of the biggest mobile markets in the world. But the HTC Magic, which Japan's biggest telco, NTT Docomo, started distributing last summer, will soon be joined by the Sharp IS01 [JP] - which is not really a "smartphone", but rather being marketed as an MID or "smartbook" instead.

According to research sponsored by Toshiba, more Americans are afraid of losing digital data -- photos, documents, etc -- than they are about losing their wallet or an audit by the IRS. This is probably because more people have suffered a digital loss than have been audited by the IRS -- we all say "It can't happen to me!" until it actually does happen, and only then do we change our behaviors. Toshiba announces 750GB and 1TB HDDs for notebooks

Toshiba is releasing one high-capacity HDD after another lately. Today, the company announced [PDF] two new hard discs, which are poised to find their way into our notebooks very soon, the MK7559GSXP (750GB/pictured) and the MK1059GSM (1TB). The 750GB model is the world's most capacious 2.5-inch/9.5mm high HDD. Toshiba released its predecessor (holding 640GB) back in September last year.
