HTC Aria slipping out early into AT&T stores
Posted on June 18, 2010 | 1 CommentGood news, Android fans! HTC's Aria -- arguably the first Google-fied phone on AT&T worth caring about -- is seemingly slipping onto carrier floors a few days early. As the story goes, the Sense-equipped, Android 2.1-powered handset was supposed to go on sale this Sunday, but based on these unboxing shots from a giddy tipster, it's clearly ready to be procured early in some locations. Still unsure if it's worth your $129.99 on contract? Have a peek at our review right here.
Update: We're also hearing through the grapevine that these are in stock in certain Best Buy Mobile locations.

Droid Incredible torn down to its constituent elements, reassembled in a flash (video)
Posted on May 5, 2010 | No CommentsNow here's an innovative concept -- instead of doing separate videos for an unboxing and a disassembly of the Droid Incredible, why not combine them into one? And while you're at it, turn that into a stop-motion animation and include well timed sound effects for comedic relief. Make sure to include intimate closeups of the Incredible's spectacularly red innards, then finish off with a sped-up reconstruction and reboot of the handsome Nexus One killer. Got all that? Good, now drop the video after the break and let the people enjoy it.Droid Incredible torn down to its constituent elements, reassembled in a flash (video) originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 05 May 2010 05:27:00 EST. The iPad 3G has arrived
Posted on April 30, 2010 | No CommentsMy friendly neighborhood iPad 3G man just dropped off my 32GB model fresh from the factory. It still has that new Apple smell? What could be better than a box of Kodak stuff?

Nokia N900 and the case of the best unboxing ever
Posted on December 21, 2009 | No CommentsWe'll just come out and say it: this is so awesome. In fact, if you want to just take our word for it, skip the copy and head straight to the video after the break -- you really only need to watch the first four or so minutes... Still here? Alright then. The shiny cube comes straight from Espoo and houses a N900, but the only way to get into the box is to plug it into a computer, establish a link, and then type in the right terminal command to unlock the lid (spoiler: it's company motto "connecting people" -- how clever) in addition to -- poof -- smoke! (Our favorite part.) Given the technical prerequisites, our guess is this has something to do with Nokia's the hack-centric "Push" program, but really that's just a guess. Like we said, video after the break, and if you opt to watch past the first couple minutes, you'll get to see a plastic fox. Trust us.[Thanks, Matija]

Acer Liquid A1 unboxed, video style
Posted on December 9, 2009 | No CommentsThe Acer Liquid A1 just started shipping in the UK, and right on cue we've got a video unboxing. Turns out the box housing the 1GHz Snapdragon-powered Android set is fairly interesting itself, with a magnetic hinged design that opens to reveal the charger, manuals, and bundled 2GB SanDisk microSD card and SD adapter. As for the phone, don't hold out for an Android 2.0 surprise -- it's running Android 1.6 with Acer's custom Spinlets UI skin on top, which equals a frowny-face from us. Hopefully Acer manages to update things if this guy ever comes to the States, but for now we'll just let you head past the break and check the video for yourselves -- we're sorry about the terrible Owl City soundtrack, but we had nothing to do with it.

HP iPAQ Glisten unboxing and hands-on
Posted on December 7, 2009 | No CommentsAs you take a 30-second tour of your local AT&T store this month, the iPAQ Glisten from HP isn't likely to catch your eye; it's just another QWERTY smartphone without much curb appeal, after all. If you take a step back, though, this unassuming piece of gadgetry is actually quite interesting on a number of levels: it's just the third device to launch on AT&T with Windows Mobile 6.5 out of the box (though the Jack has been upgraded since it hit the market), it's got an AMOLED display, it features the exceedingly rare portrait-QWERTY-plus-touchscreen form factor, and -- this is a big one -- it apparently once again proves that HP hasn't abandoned the handset market altogether. Sound like a winning formula to you? Read on for our quick take on the Glisten's ups, downs, and... sideways-es.

HP lets iPAQ Glisten out of the box
Posted on December 4, 2009 | No CommentsThe AT&T-bound iPAQ Glisten from HP has been unboxed for our viewing pleasure, video of which can be found immediately after the break. If you're not in such a hurry though, you'll want to know it's an AMOLED-fronted, Qualcomm-powered (533MHz) WinMo 6.5 device, which brings the BlackBerry form factor sans the RIM user experience, but plus a touchscreen. Another thing to note is that AT&T's online store will be the only place to get it, at the already announced $179.99 after rebates on a two-year deal. The video does a good job of comparing HP's return to the mobile space with a pair of similar devices, and we're left with the impression that it's a pretty chunky machine, but as usual we recommend seeing it for yourself -- and you already know where to find it.Continue reading HP lets iPAQ Glisten out of the box

AT&T’s BlackBerry Bold 9700 starts shipping out to top bananas
Posted on November 17, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, RIM, ATT, GSM, EDGE, HSDPA, BlackBerry OS
Got an AT&T Premier account at your disposal? Does your nine to five require you to wear a suit on every day that ends in "y?" If you're nodding your head and simultaneously thinking about just how tight that top button is around your neck, there's a decent chance that you can get AT&T's version of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 right now. 'Course, those on T-Mobile have already been enjoying the spoils for a few hours now, but judging by the unboxing shots in the read link, that window of US exclusivity looks to be all but shut. So, anyone jabbing the boss for an upgrade?AT&T's BlackBerry Bold 9700 starts shipping out to top bananas originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Tue, 17 Nov 2009 15:18:00 EST. Dell Mini 3i unboxed in China, capacitive stylus included
Posted on November 13, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Others, China Mobile, Android
One lucky Chinese blogger was kind enough to share his Dell Mini 3i unboxing experience beyond the Great Firewall, just a tad before Dell officially announced their first-ever smartphone. What's interesting is that the China Mobile version comes with a special stylus for the capacitive touchscreen -- a very handy tool for writing Chinese -- but there's been no mention of this accessory for the Brazilian 3iX. Dell's also bundled a 3.5mm adapter for the mini-USB port in case their handsfree isn't good enough for your audiophilic ears. Yeah, too bad about the missing headphone jack, but don't let this deter you from checking out the Mini 3i's full glory after the break.Continue reading Dell Mini 3i unboxed in China, capacitive stylus included
