iPhone 4 arrives at Walmart (update: and Best Buy!)
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsCheck out that sweet, sweet box. Yes folks, we seem to have received our very first in-the-cardboard picture of the retail iPhone 4 out in the wild. We don't work at Walmart, so we can't verify this one for ourselves, but our tipster says Apple's latest phone has just landed in the big box retailer's storehouses.
P.S. -- Before you start frothing at the mouth, the CDMA coding on the box in the background relates to an LG 290C handset also stocked by Walmart.
Update: A shot of a Best Buy arrival is past the break.Continue reading iPhone 4 arrives at Walmart (update: and Best Buy!)

Walmart feeling the EVO 4G hype, to sell the superphone for $199 sans mail-in rebate
Posted on June 2, 2010 | No CommentsThe EVO 4G is an awesome phone — besides the short battery life — and a lot of people are ready to jump on the 4.3-inch Android superphone when it launches on this Friday. Walmart no doubt wants a piece of the action and is joining Best Buy and Radio Shack in offering the phone [...] -
Walmart officially cuts iPhone 3GS to $97, potentially clearing out inventory for the iPhone 4?
Posted on May 24, 2010 | No CommentsWell, this is intriguing: Walmart just officially announced that it'll be selling the 16GB iPhone 3GS for $97 starting Tuesday, a full $100 off the regular price. Given the high probability that Steve Jobs will introduce the thoroughly-leaked next-gen iPhone when he gives the WWDC 2010 keynote on June 7th, the price cut seems like either an attempt to clear out remaining inventory or a way to slide the 3GS down the line to replace the $99 8GB iPhone 3G -- a move which would corroborate some whispers we've heard today that the 3G is no longer being shipped to stores. Either way, the 3GS just got a lot cheaper, which is never a bad thing, but we'd still say potential iPhone owners should wait a couple weeks and see what's coming next.

CrunchDeals: $78 Magnavox Blu-ray player
Posted on February 5, 2010 | No Comments
Most Blu-ray players are resting comfortably well north of the $100 mark, but not this Magnavox. It's only $78 and it really does play Blu-ray movies. However, there's a bunch that it can't do, because, well, it's only $78.

Droid Eris available for $30, shuns Black Friday theatrics
Posted on November 27, 2009 | No CommentsFrom everything we can tell, this new Droid Eris deal has nothing to do with the day after Thanksgiving and everything to do with the pure insanity of Walmart Wireless / LetsTalk.com. The same people that brought us the $30 Pixi have slashed the $99 Eris down to $30, which does wonders for removing the Eris from regular Droid comparisons. Judged purely on its own merits, $30 is a pretty smashing price for this handset, but in two years when that hefty Verizon contract is up it's probably going to seem even more outdated by new versions of Android and faster processors than it does now.

Walmart’s $30 deal vaults Pixi from ‘meh’ to ’sure, I’ll take three’
Posted on November 12, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Palm, Sprint, EV-DO, CDMA, webOS
At $100, the underpowered Pixi doesn't look like a great value against its bigger, older brother -- but at the $30 Walmart is charging through its partner LetsTalk, the game changes a bit, doesn't it? Sure, $70 isn't that huge of a difference quantitatively, but emotionally, $30 is basically an overpriced meal or two -- and considering the old adage of "a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips," wouldn't you just rather have webOS? We've heard of some bad experiences with LetsTalk rebates in the past, but in this case, it's just an instant discount, so it seems like it could be a no-brainer for on-the-fencers.

Palm Pixi arrives early for the people of Walmart
Posted on November 12, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Palm, Sprint, EV-DO, CDMA, webOS
Brush back that mullet and adjust your ill-fitting halter tops folks 'cause Palm's newest webOS device has been spotted at Walmart. This pair of Pixi lovelies was ogled overnight inside one of Sam Walton's finest Tennessee locations reportedly sporting a $400 price tag and little else -- it wasn't in Walmart's system so it wasn't yet available for purchase. Something that should be rectified in time for Sunday's official launch with Sprint ($100 on contract) if not sooner.Palm Pixi arrives early for the people of Walmart originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Thu, 12 Nov 2009 04:21:00 EST. Best Buy to sell Modern Warfare 2 at midnight and fuel your gaming obsession even more
Posted on November 5, 2009 | No Comments
Look out, Walmart. Best Buy is going to sell Modern Warefare 2 at midnight too. But unlike Walmart, Best Buy's average middle of the night clientele doesn't look like this. or this. or this. The line will start at 10:30 p.m. and at 12:01 a.m., you and a few other socially-stunted gamers will get a chance to buy the game. How exciting. If you must be the first to own the game, there is a nice little advantage to buying the game at Best Buy instead of Walmart though.

Yup, Walmart has the Xbox 360 on sale this weekend
Posted on November 4, 2009 | No Comments
Well, well. It turns out the rumor was correct. Walmart is in fact giving away a $100 gift card with the purchase of the $199 Xbox 360 this Saturday. I don't think you need help figuring out that this deal effectively drops the price down to $99. But if you need help spending your gift card, hit me up. I'll help with that.

Wal-Mart rolling out tech support services

Hey, lookin' good there Mr. Man. I like your protective booties. They look like slippers!
Wal-Mart has contracted with service provider N.E.W. to offer tech support services, seemingly in an attempt to compete with Best Buy’s Geek Squad and similar outfits.
