I haven't, but that's probably because I only use Windows as a conduit to playing Team Fortress 2 and spend only as much time as I can in there. I also haven't applied any security updates to it, and that may be the culprit.

Remember that hubbub a few weeks back about Seth MacFarlane's Family Guy advertising Windows 7? But the show was apparently deemed to raunchy so Microsoft replaced Family Guy with Warner Bros. Well, did you catch last night's episode? There was a Family Guy segment that certainly looked like an advertisement and was then followed by a regular Windows 7 commercial. Check out the video after the jump. It makes you wonder if there is more to come and the deal isn't dead after all.

Shocking: the NSA helped make Windows 7!!

Okay, so I intentionally used a salacious headline to get your attention. It's Thursday. The NSA didn't really help make Windows 7. Rather, using their "unique expertise and operational knowledge of system threats and vulnerabilities" the National Security Agency helped shape "Microsoft's operating system security guide", according to Richard Sharffer, Information Assurance Director at the NSA. The NSA works with other companies, like Red Hat, Apple, and Sun, too. The NSA started the Security Enhanced Linux initiative in 2003, so it should come as no surprise that they've been working to help secure Windows, too.

Windows 7 exploit (the first?) confirmed by Microsoft

Microsoft has confirmed the existence of a vulnerability that affects SMB in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 RC2. Worst case scenario: you connect to a malicious server then it crashes your PC.

ITG’s xpPhone gets options for larger screen and Windows 7, loses sense of identity

It makes sense to release your mostly-theoretical (so far, anyway) desktop OS-based slider handset with the world's newest and best version of Windows, but it when your slider handset is dubbed "xpPhone" things become a bit more muddled. But that's the word from Pocketables, who's been in touch with ITG and learned that the MID / phone will not only ship with a Windows 7 option, but also be available in 4.3-inch, 4.8-inch and 7-inch screen sizes. Testing finds Windows XP better for netbook battery life than Windows 7

The fine folks at Laptop magazine have put three different netbooks to the test, determining their respective battery life under both Windows XP and Windows 7. Looks like Windows XP is the winner.

The copies of Windows are pirated. The service takes about 40 minutes and includes a full install as well as a quick crack. Win7 Family Edition costs $11.

iPhone and Windows 7 don’t play nice, Intel P55 chipset to blame
Posted on October 31, 2009 | No CommentsThe iPhone is one of the most wildly popular phones the world has ever seen, while Windows 7 is well on its way to becoming the globe's most ubiquitous OS. So compatibility between the two would be kinda sorta important, right? Tell that to Intel's quality control team who seem to have somehow missed an issue between Apple's app carrier deluxe and the P55 Express chipset's USB controller. Consistent (and persistent) syncing issues have been reported on Apple's support forums, wherein iTunes on Windows 7 machines recognizes the iPhone, but spits out an "error 0xE8000065" message whenever the user attempts to sync. While some have found limited success with using PCI-based USB cards (and bypassing the chipset), this is clearly a major issue and something Apple would expect to be fixed before shipping its Core i5 / i7 iMacs, which are likely to sport the chipset.
