Aava Mobile’s Intel Moorestown prototype plays World of Warcraft beautifully (video)
Posted on June 5, 2010 | No CommentsIntel has managed to make Moorestown-based phones do an awful lot of things on stage. Multitask, scale photos sans lag, and automatically correct your grammar before it comes out of your mouth. But believe it or not, one thing we haven't seen the Aava Mobile-built reference design do is play the full PC version of World of Warcraft and / or Quake III (from within Moblin) for over an hour on a full charge. Well, until this week's Computex event. Peek a couple of videos just past the break if you're in disbelief, and trust us when we say that it had no issues keep the frames flowing at a comfortable clip. The future is bright, people.Aava Mobile's Intel Moorestown prototype plays World of Warcraft beautifully (video) originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 05 Jun 2010 10:02:00 EST. Did Gaikai just make World of Warcraft on the iPad possible?
Posted on May 3, 2010 | No CommentsThis photo allegedly shows the World of Warcraft login screen running on an iPad thanks to a service called Gaikai. Gaikai, from the looks of it, works like OnLive or OTOY in that it runs the game on their hardware, then streams it to you over the Internet. Sure it does...

World of Warcraft movie still in way pre-production
Posted on April 28, 2010 | No CommentsWaiting for the World of Warcraft movie? Prepare to keep waiting. A recent interview revealed that the movie is still in the super early stages of pre-production. They're still going over the story at meetings, still trying to figure out how to adapt the entire Warcraft universe to the big screen. Movies take a long time to create.

Why is World of Warcraft encouraging me to vote?
Posted on April 12, 2010 | No CommentsWell this is a strange one. I just received in the mail (that’s “real” mail, not e-mail) an official letter from the National Association of Secretaries of State encouraging me to take advantage of all these fancy ways of keeping up-to-date with voting information. The letter took great pains to stress that the program, which [...] -

TED talk: To save the world, we have to play 21 billion hours of video games per week
Posted on March 22, 2010 | No CommentsYes, you read that right. According to Jane McGonigal, we as a people need to play online games for 21 billion hours per week in order to solve the world's problems. Real problems, too, not silly things like making sure Simon Cowell stays on for another season of American Idol. We're talking poverty, having access to clean water and healthy food, climate change, obesity, global conflict, etc. The real deal. Hey, this is McGonigal talking, not me. I'm fine with using World of Warcraft as nothing more than a giant time sink.

Man alive, the World of Warcraft economy is quite elastic!
Posted on February 22, 2010 | No CommentsThere are people out there who take to World of Warcraft's Auction House like NYU Stern graduates take to Wall Street. The Auction House, for those unawares, is a place where WoW gamers can buy and sell in-game items using in-game currency. It can be incredibly complicated, and there are entire guides dedicated to "playing" the Auction House in order to make money. I've made a fair bit of coin by merely buying items at one, low price, then re-listing them on the Auction House for a new, higher price.

Yeah, Cataclysm will come out this year
Posted on February 11, 2010 | No CommentsIt's earnings call season, and while no news is more shocking than the fact that WWE will drop the Survivor Series, there's something for World of Warcraft fans. And, really, who isn't a fan of World of Warcraft. Anyhow, yeah, Cataclysm will come out this year. We've (and by "we" I mean the WoW community) pretty much assumed as much since the expansion was first announced, but now the money men have made it official.

World of Warcraft headphones get pricing, details
Posted on February 1, 2010 | No Comments
Creative is finally giving up some details on the World of Warcraft headset that they showed off at BlizzCon and CES. The price is a bit higher then we'd all like, with an MSRP of $159.99 for the wireless version, and $119.99 for the wired version. They do look cool though, I like the choice between the Horde and Alliance artwork lit up on the sides.

Short Version: Fresh from the box, Creative’s World of Warcraft, is here! They were designed for WoW players and their performance definitely reflects that. While a tad bulky, they don’t feel heavy.
Pros
• Very Comfortable
• Hard to hear outside the headphones
• Wireless Mic works well. Does not get in the way.
• Driver allows deep customization of audio to serve your needs.
Cons
• No way to determine battery power.
• Volume buttons feel a little flimsy.
• Microphone can adjust but not very well.
• In order to download drivers, you must register the product.
• Reasonable but not impressive range.
• Not compatible with consoles (at least the PS3)
