NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Ready for a brain booster from your favorite math show? Cyberchase Math Match, a new app for iPhone and iPod Touch, offers an incredibly fun way for kids 8 years and older to test their math mettle.
“Cyberchase Math Match is a fun and engaging way to learn basic math facts – once you start playing, it’s hard to stop!”
Developed by Cyberchase, the Emmy Award®-winning animated math series and website for 8- to 11-year-olds on PBS KIDS GO!, and Lima Sky, the team behind the runaway hit app Doodle Jump, Cyberchase Math Match tests young players’ basic math facts.
In classic memory game style, kids tap tiles in Cyberchase Math Match to pair up math problems with their solutions, along with pairs of favorite Cyberchase characters. To keep players coming back, the game becomes a little more difficult with each successive play, and tracks high scores and best times to encourage competition.
“We’ve been developing award-winning interactive content at Cyberchase Online for years, and we’re excited to be offering our first opportunity for kids to ‘play math’ on the go,” says Frances Nankin, Cyberchase Executive Producer. “Cyberchase Math Match is a fun and engaging way to learn basic math facts – once you start playing, it’s hard to stop!”
“When the opportunity to team with Cyberchase came along, I couldn’t pass it up,” said Igor Pusenjak, president and founder of Lima Sky. “We took what we know about making successful, popular, and totally fun apps, and added a Cyberchase math twist. We’re thrilled with the product, and we think young fans will be hooked.”
Now a pop-cultural phenomenon, Lima Sky’s Doodle Jump is one of the best selling iPhone apps of all time. Pusenjak was recently named by Fast Company as #14 on their annual list of the 100 Most Creative People in Business, and #10 on Business Insider’s Silicon Alley 100: New York’s Coolest Tech People in 2010.
Likewise, Cyberchase, now in it’s eighth year of broadcast on PBS KIDS GO!, has consistently proven its track record in creating effective media for kids. Several independent studies have confirmed that Cyberchase TV episodes and related interactive games significantly strengthen children’s mathematics learning.
Cyberchase Math Match is available now on the App Store for $0.99: http://bit.ly/cyberchase-math-match. Optimized for the iPhone 4 Retina Display and iPod Touch, it’s also playable on the iPad. Periodic updates will unveil more secret images and math problems.
