What a time to be alive in the UK! Manchester United come home from Meeelan with a 0-0 draw, Arsenal, um, win somehow, and there may soon be unmanned drones flying o’er the countryside! Truly the epitome of civilization!
There’s word today that the UK’s Home Office (sorta like the U.S. Department of Homeland Security) will “investigate” the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, in order to keep Britain safe from bad guys. The drones would be controlled from an offsite location, and would be cheaper to use than other forms of security and surveillance. Considering the UK already has a metric ton of surveillance cameras, it’s not exactly unlikely that you’d be seeing these drones on the outskirts of great centers like Leeds and Wycombe.
Of course, privacy advocates don’t like the idea, but they’re never happy anyway.
Can you imagine how much Americans would freak out if they saw UAVs flying over central New Jersey or Hotlanta? It would be chaos.
