Late Mate for BlackBerry screws with your clock to make you more punctual
Posted on May 21, 2010 | No CommentsI run late. Always. The last time I remember being not-late, it’s because I thought the event started 30 minutes earlier than it actually did. I ended up only being 15 minutes early. If you’re a late person (or if you’ve seen that one episode of I love Lucy), you’ve probably heard of the trick where [...] -
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 sells many copies (plus bonus rant!)
Posted on March 19, 2010 | No CommentsGod almighty do I have a bone to pick with Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which I bought on release day like a mark. The game is doing quite well for EA, having already sold 2.3 million units (and projected to sell 4 million by the end of the year). So that's ahead of expectations—it's a hit, have a party. The thing that annoys me (and Matt, for that matter) is the game's implementation of checkpoints. There's not nearly enough of them, and it's infuriating. I was very close to lighting my monitor on fire last night.

Oh my sweet Cthulhu! Nokia has something big about to go down
Posted on January 20, 2010 | No CommentsWho knows what’s going on over in London right now but there are a few blolgers chilling out waiting for Nokia to launch something huge in 19 hours. The best thing? You can embed their little countdown thinger into your own blog, thereby completing the circle of blog wonkery. Writes symbian-guru: Nokia has begun sending invites [...] -
In Pictures: CES – the “E” stands for “EXCITEMENT”
Posted on January 6, 2010 | No CommentsTaken during Samsung’s press conference. The guy with the LG enV spent most of the time tap-tap-tappin’ away, while Drowsypants in front of him tried to fight off about 15 minutes of head drooping before finally slipping into a serene, dream-like state. -
Legend of Zelda cartoons now on Hulu
Posted on December 18, 2009 | No CommentsWhelp! There goes everyone’s Friday. You can now catch 13 episodes of The Legend of Zelda on Hulu (if you’re in the US). You’ll recall that the show ran every Friday on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! and, for many of us, eclipsed the actual Mario episodes in coolness. The episodes are 15 minutes long. [...] -
Stocking Stuffer: PowerGenix NiZn rechargeable batteries
Posted on December 10, 2009 | No Comments
There’s a fine line between giving regular batteries as a gift and giving rechargeable batteries as a gift. Giving someone regular batteries is a dumb gift. Might as well give them a sheet cake. Either way, the gift is a consumable and doesn’t last long. Rechargeable batteries, on the other hand, last quite a bit longer.

First review of New Super Mario Bros. Wii gives the game a 9.2 (and guess from who that number’s from!)
Posted on November 10, 2009 | No Comments
Super Mario Bros. Wii doesn't come out here in North America for another five days, but, for whatever reason, it comes out in Australia in two days! That explains why you can find the world's first review (nearest I can tell) on IGN Australia. The Web site gave the game a 9.2 (I swear, these decimal point reviews are 100 percent absurd), but I think it's safe to conclude that the game is, indeed, fun, which is really all you can ask for.

Dash Cam does up to 48 hours of 720×480 recording
Posted on October 2, 2009 | No Comments
I bet that on your daily commute to work you've often thought to yourself, "Man, this is EXCITING! I wish other people could see what I see! Cars! Billboards! More cars! A truck!"
And while standard dash cams work well for run-of-the-mill vehicular lifecasting, their relatively low resolutions and short recording times make for a less than desirable compendium of your transportational adventures.

Do all your phreaking before you turn 18, kids
Posted on August 25, 2009 | No CommentsPlease turn your attention to Rolling Stone, where an article about a blind, lonely phreaker is currently tearing up the charts. That is to say, it's an article worth your time, certainly better than refreshing drudgereport.com for the thousandth time in a day.
Here's a surprisingly green idea from a hotel in Copenhagen. The ultra-modern Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers has set up two stationary bicycles and attached them to generators, with an iPhone connected to the handlebars. Time to work for that dinner!
You’ve been adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing all day long. The sweat gathers in the arm pit region of your short-sleeve button-down work shirt. Your pocket protector feels like it weighs a thousand pounds. Only 15 minutes to go and you can hop in your Subaru, drive home, and take a nice, long shower. If only there was a shower curtain to reflect your status as one of the world’s most elite mathletes.
One of the biggest titles of this year's Tokyo Game Show is certainly Metal Gear Solid - Peace Walker for the PSP. And it's all about multiplayer. I was able to play the game with a friend (in co-op mode) for about 15 minutes and it completely rocked (the game was playable for the first time). In fact, up to four players could play at the same time (and some TGS guests did).
