The Asus DR-900 ebook reader brings Wi-Fi and 3g to a 9-inch screen
Posted on March 2, 2010 | No Comments
The Kindle DX better watch its back. There's a new 9-inch ebook reader on the bus. The Asus DR-900 offers nearly everything that makes the Kindle DX special, a 9-inch E-ink screen, Wi-Fi, and optional 3G wireless, plus it has an SD card slot for further expansion over the 2GB built-in storage. But none of that matters. The Kindle DX still has something that's more important than those hardware specs. It has access to the Kindle Store.

Computer equipment maker Buffalo is pretty bullish about USB 3.0. The HD-PEU3-BK (pictured above), the compact type, will be available in a version that holds 500 GB (price: $200) and another one with 640GB ($250).

Vpad Tablet uses netbook hardware, lacks power
Posted on February 17, 2010 | No Comments
iiView recently announced their answer to tablet computing, the Vpad. The issue is, I'm not sure they understood exactly what people are looking for in a tablet PC. I like tablet PC's. I like the concept, the idea of a computer that's portable, uses a touch screen, and plays media. Unfortunately, the specs on the Vpad don't look very promising.

Asus beat to EEE Keyboard market by knockoff
Posted on January 26, 2010 | No Comments
Bad news for Asus, the EEE Keyboard that still hasn't been released yet was beaten to market by a clone. The knockoff version is made by the Chinese company Great Wall, and while the clone version did beat the original to market, there are some serious reasons to wait until Asus releases their version.

The Chumby One tear-down
Posted on January 13, 2010 | No CommentsIt so sad when they expose the guts of devices like the Chumby One. The Chumby has personality, you know? You kind of feel for it? Oh well. iFixIt tore the Chumby into little bits, splaying the processor, screen, and even the speaker for all to see. There’s not much to see here but the [...] -

Philips rolls into China with WinMo 6.5 via D908 slate
Posted on December 29, 2009 | No CommentsPhilips has imbued its power-sipping Xenium line with some reasonably attractive industrial design in the past, so we're not too sure what they're thinking with this latest D908 here; granted, it's apparently got WinMo 6.5 on board, but that's no excuse -- goodness knows there are plenty of beautiful devices on the market these days with Microsoft guts. The upshot, though, is that this has EV-DO with an eye on a Chinese launch, a surefire sign that it'll be coming to China Telecom. Other features include a WVGA display, 5 megapixel cam, 2GB of onboard storage with microSD expansion up to 32GB, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1, and an integrated FM radio. Just figure out how to slip this into a case 3 or 4mm thinner than the D908's beefy 14.5mm, Philips, and you've got a winner on your hands.Philips rolls into China with WinMo 6.5 via D908 slate originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Tue, 29 Dec 2009 08:03:00 EST. The color e-books are coming! The color e-books are coming!
Posted on December 29, 2009 | No Comments
More competition is the color E-book market can only be a good thing. The Nook is just sort of in color, the Kindle is the 800 pound gorilla, no one knows what exactly Apple's got planned, and now there's this new guy Paradigm Shift, talking about launching a full-color e-book reader at CES. Bet they wish they'd come to market before the holidays.

Quick Look: Sony VAIO X Series notebook
Posted on December 28, 2009 | No CommentsThe 1.5-pound, half-inch thick Sony VAIO X Series notebook is easily one of the most impressive portable computers I’ve seen in quite some time. I can’t convey how light it is. It seems to defy logic. My brain doesn’t understand that it’s seeing my hand hold up an 11.1-inch notebook that weighs less than half [...] -
Purported Google Chrome OS netbook specs don’t quite add up
Posted on December 28, 2009 | No Comments
A handful of sites are linking to a post on NetbookNews.de, which links to a post on a UK-based site called IBTimes titled Google Chrome OS-based netbook tech specs are out. It seems fishy and the site doesn’t get a lot of traffic in the first place but if the post ends up being credible, I apologize.
I’ll leave the comparisons between the Ezy Tablet PC and
Oh Gateway LT3103, you bucked the netbook trend all the way into our hearts with the inclusion of the AMD Athlon 64 L110 CPU and ATI Radeon graphics. Now you are being refurbished and sold for just $270 with a six-cell battery and 2GB of RAM.
