    Fujitsu specs, prices and dates its 3D PC with integrated 3D camera

    Teased last month, announced [JP] today: Fujitsu took the wraps off a 3D desktop PC that has a quite unique selling point: it comes with a camera that lets users shoot pictures and video in 3D. The ESPRIMO FMV FH550/3AM will not only display user-generated 3D content on its 20-inch screen but also 3D Blu-rays and 3D video from other sources.

    We're about to get yet another 3D-enabled piece of hardware, and this time, it's a projector. Sanyo's PDG-DWL2500J, announced today in Japan (press release in English), is not only "3D ready", but it also boasts the world's shortest projection distance (just 32cm to project images that are 80 inches in size) for projectors weighing less than 9kg.

    Another day, another 3D-related tech news item from Japan. This time, it's a 3D-powered desktop PC Fujitsu is currently demoing at a two-day company event (Fujitsu Forum [JP]) in Tokyo. It's not only able to display 3D images but also has a 3D camera built-in (just above the display).

    Toshiba unveils 21-inch, glasses-free HD 3D display

    We're about to get yet another 3D display. This time, it's Toshiba Mobile Display Corp. that's prepping such a screen, an autostereoscopic (glasses-free), 21-inch 3D HD display "for use in next-generation 3D monitors", to be more exact. Toshiba says the main selling points is that its new "integral imaging system" with 9-parallax design makes it possible for users to view 3D images from a wider range of viewing angles.

    Samsung first to start 3D HDTV production

    Samsung announced recently that they will be mass producing 3D HDTVs. They are the first manufacturer to actually come out and say so, but I doubt they will be the last given the sheer volume of 3D technology we saw at CES. Samsung stated they will be producing three sizes initially, in 40-inch, 46-inch, and 55-inch screens. All three sizes will support the current 3D Active Glasses, which is currently the industry standard.

    Sony just recently said they want to get serious with 3D displays this fiscal year, and they seem to stick to their plan. Following the professional 3D camera that shoots video at 240fps and a futuristic 3D stereoscopic display the company introduced last month, we now get to see a 3D display sized at no less than 280 inches.

    Digital Contents Expo Tokyo: Pioneer’s awesome 3D display “Floating Vision” (video)

    Pioneer has showcased the Floating Vision at the Digital Contents Expo in Tokyo (that ended Sunday), another 3D display that doesn't require you to wear glasses (yawn) to view 3D images. It's not bad at all though, even though visitors flocked to Sony's booth to see their stereoscopic 3D display (which was a bit cooler). You can connect the Floating Vision to a PC via USB 2.0 to view images or videos "floating" over the display (5.7 inches, 640 × 480 VGA resolution). What's pretty cool is that you can "interact" with the image, as the device detects your hand movements. It's also possible to "control" an image with your voice (the device has a mic on its front). Both Windows PCs and Macs are supported.

    Hitachi develops eyeglass-free 3-D projection system

    No pictures for this yet, but Hitachi has reportedly developed a 3D projection system that allows viewers to watch 3D images from any angle, and perhaps more importantly, without the need for eyeglasses. While the first feature makes sure a group of people can see 3D images at the same time on a single screen, I am aware the second one isn't the first of its kind for a 3D system.

    Time published a bunch of info about Fujifilm's upcoming 3D consumer camera system early last week. The mag talked about how how the FinePix Real 3D W1 the next best thing, which I claimed was doubtful considering its price, but one small detail was left out: this camera can also record 3D movies.
