Unnamed Sony Ericsson QWERTY phone spotted in the wild [Updated]

I’ll go ahead and say it: the fact that this unnamed, mostly undetailed Sony Ericsson touchscreen/QWERTY handset is running Symbian S60 5th Edition rather than Android is a travesty. We only know that it’s running 5th Edition because of the one leaked shot you see above — and outside of that, we dont know a whole [...]

How can one retail store bend the fabric of the time-space continuum in such a way?

ARM shows off its Mali mobile processors with impressive 3D demos, also bowling (video)
It's been a long time since ARM last bragged about its Mali line of high-end mobile processors, telling us back in March how the 200 and 400 models were going to bring high-def 3D performance to tiny gadgets. Finally we have some videos to go with the hype, two demonstrations showing the phone's admittedly impressive polygon-shuffling tech. The demos feature the lower-end Mali-200 rendering everything at 720p, playing some simple videos and also handling a rather complex 3D contact navigation system that looks both flashy and painful to use. ARM says "play a game of bowling like never before and you'll get hooked by the magic of Mali." Click on through already, and prepare to be hooked.

Short version: If you are familiar with the Nikon D300, then you can just expect more of the same. Epson Japan announces Dreamio projector with built-in DVD player

Only very few home electronics companies dare selling projectors housing a DVD player. There's a good reason for this: The things aren't really a picnic for the eyes, as this example from last month shows. And even established brands like Epson fail to deliver well-designed hardware in this niche. Case in point: Their new dreamio EH-DM30 [JP].

Unknown Android MID is just a concept, but a damn good one

It’s a shame, really. The mysterious MID running Android that’s been popping up over the last two weeks has finally been caught on video. It looks and runs wonderfully, but it’s just a concept from Chinese chipmaker Rockchip. The device was built to showcase Rockchip’s new RK2808 720p-decoding chipset. It’s unfortunate that the 5-inch MID is only a one-off. Check out the two videos of it in action after the jump.

Your iPhone 3GS can play 1080p video just fine (but will Apple let you?)

Go ahead, I dare you to explain to me the utility you derive from playing 1080p video on your iPhone 3GS. A post on a Chinese forum suggests that the phone is perfectly capable of playing 720p and 1080p when encoded with H.264; Apple currently limits playback resolution to 640x480. The angle right now is, “How dare Apple artificially limit the resolution that we can play?” Well, one, it's Apple, what do you expect and, two, can image how quickly the battery will deplete when playing 1080p video?
