Supremacy MMA: Is there enough interest for a video game not based on UFC or Strikeforce?

Word on the street (Wall Street, that is) is that UFC Undisputed 2010 didn't sell nearly as well as the previous game. There could be a few reasons for that, chief among them that people already had their UFC thirst quenched, so to speak. It was genuinely exciting to play a game with the modern roster (the last game before UFC Undisputed 2009 came out in 2004). The question now becomes, is the world ready for yet another MMA game? I speak not of EA Sports MMA but of Supremacy MMA, a game being developed for the Xbox 360 and PS3 by Kung Fu Factory, published by 505 Games.

Infinity Ward employees sue Activision for up to $500 million over withheld bonuses

Why haven't we applied the "gate" suffix to this Infinity Ward-Activision story yet? "Infinity Gate" has a certain ring to it, sorta sounds the name of a private military company. Anyway, how would you feel if you worked for a company and you made a product. It was a successfully product, like, you made the company $1 billion in just a few months. As per your contract, you're due a certain amount of money (royalties) for your troubles. The thing is, the company says, "Hey, you know that money we owe you? We won't give it to you until you finish another product. If you leave us you forfeit all claims to that money we owe you." Not cool, no, but that's what the Infinity Ward Employee Group now claims.

Red Dead Redemption gets Fox TV machinima special

Quite the push behind Red Dead Redemption, no? The latest is that John Hillcoat, the guy who directed The Road (which I saw the other day—the future looks horrible), has worked on a 30-minute machinima for Rockstar . The short film will air on Fox on May 15. This is a pretty big deal.

EA drops fat cash on The Old Republic

What's it going to take to dethrone World of Warcraft? One of two things, I'd say: one, an asteroid smashing directly into the planet, with Blizzard at the exact location of impact, or two, Blizzard releasing World of Warcraft 2. The asteroid is more likely at this point. So you can imagine the time and money EA is putting into The Old Republic, the only MMO with a chance in hell of taking away even a fraction of WoW's subscribers.

UFC signs online pay-per-view deal in China. Say goodbye to your streams?

One of the arguments "in favor" of illegal UFC streaming just became a little bit harder to defend. The company signed a deal with China's sohu.com to broadcast events online there. There's a new Dutch Web site out there, cantyouseeimbusy.com (Can't You See I'm Busy?—HILARIOUS~!), that provides “work-looking” games that you can play without your boss knowing.

iPhone Erotica: Looks like Apple’s okay with it, as long as it’s tiny.

Screen shot 2009-10-05 at [ October 5 ] 11.40.54 AM Looking for nudity in the App Store? Well, it exists. Contrary to what hundreds of application denials might have implied, it seems that Apple's perfectly okay with showin' the goods within an application - so long as said goods are shown in itty-bitty (though zoomable) thumbnails. Before we dive too deep, we should make it clear: We're very much in the "This shouldn't be an issue" boat. We don't mind at all that a collection of pixelated chests have found their way into the app store. To be completely honest, we think there's a damned absurd amount of money to be made if Apple embraced a "Well, as long as it's legal!" mindset and opened up an age-restricted section for those who's interests swung that way. That said, we're also very much in the "Apple needs to figure out their damn rules" boat. (Warning: Somewhat NSFW picture after the jump)

In yo’ face, Apple: Microsoft poaching Apple retail store talent with higher pay

Man, things are hotting up in the Microsoft vs. Apple feud. The latest news is that, yeah, not only is Microsoft planning on, well, ripping off Apple's retail store model wholesale, but it also plans to hire Apple store employees. Microsoft has offered Apple store managers “significant raises,” and offered to cover any and all moving expenses. For the record, I'd be willing to work in the Microsoft retail store on Neptune if the company offered to pay my moving expenses!

It shouldn’t be this difficult to upgrade a hard drive

You know what's a little more difficult than I first imagined? Upgrading the hard drive in my late 2006 iMac. I had initially wanted to upgrade the hard drive so I could finally dual boot between Mac OS X and Windows 7, since the old drive, a 250GB model, was pretty much filled to capacity. (Trying to run Mac OS X with only ~5GB of free space isn't ideal.) And even though the iMac user manual clearly states that the only user-replacabable parts are the RAM, I figured, “Bah! I think I can handle a simple hard drive replacement.” I did, but not before wishing I had never so much had broken out a screwdriver.

Again, if I had any amount of money to my name, the first thing I'd buy would be a pair of alligator shoes. The second thing I'd buy? Probably a Leica, just because. But would I get this one, this “safari edition”? Not sure—that white one looks pretty mean. Or maybe I'd get a really old one!
