Airport Wi-Fi users tend to be well-off, rich folk

It's a good time to be an airport Wi-Fi advertiser. According to a study just released by JiWire, the folks behind a lot of airport Wi-Fi, most people that use airport W-iFi are loaded and spend a good amount of time online while waiting for their flight. This means, of course, that Mr. Money Bags has plenty of time to click on the flashing banner ads that airport Wi-Fi generally sports. But check out these stats, I'm in the wrong game. I should be selling airport Wi-Fi ads.

U.S. Soccer looks to EA Sports to help develop next generation of pros

You would think that with a population of 300 million the U.S. would be a little better at soccer than it currently is. Not that the US Mens National Team is terrible—its victory against Spain in the Confederations Cup in June was all kinds of great—but we're (yup, Royal We time) not exactly known as a “world power,” mentioned in the same breath with Italy, Germany, Spain, Brazil, and Argentina. In steps... EA? Yup, we just got word that EA Sports, makers of FIFA 10, has teamed up with US Soccer to develop and promote a series of training videos that young players can use to improve their game. Is is enough to to give some future USMT the World Cup one day? US Soccer certainly has high hopes.

Take a virtual trip on a Russian sub

EnglishRussia has a fantastic photo set showing the inards of a Russian sub. I burned a good amount of time pursuing the set. The sub is a B-413 that once was part of the Soviet Northern Fleet, but is now hosting tourists at the Museum of World Ocean in Kalinigrad. Supposably, the interior is just as it [...]

    Review: BlackBerry Curve 8520 (T-Mobile)

John already gave you his “quick look” on the 8520, but a second look never hurt. Take into account the fact that my main phone is the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and you can see why I’m anxious to give you my thoughts on the latest Curve to hit the streets. It’s a budget BlackBerry that skimps on aesthetics, but manages to offer a lot of “must have” features that BlackBerry users have become accustomed to from other devices. Compared to the 8900, the 8520 is sans GPS and the 3.2-megapixel AF camera that’s on the 8900 is now a 2-megapixel variant on the baby Curve. Here are a few sample images taken side-by-side with the 8900. Video quality is somewhat similar, but the 8900 does a better job with color than the 8520. Check out the screengrab after the sample photos.

Solar pool cleaner works all day long, won’t come between you and your wife

solar skimmerApparently this whole "solar power" thing really works. Case in point, this Solar-Breeze apparatus uses solar power to clean your pool all day long and, aside from keeping your pool clean, it cuts down on the amount of time your pool's pump has to be running since it grabs gunk and leaves before they get sink to the bottom and get sucked into the grate.

    Review: Viliv X70 UMPC

The Viliv X70 isn’t the first UMPC, nor is it the most feature-filled. It’s isn’t the most expensive or cheapest. But I’m willing to bet that it’s one of the most important devices in its class. The X70, and it’s little brother the S5, offer a lot of mobile goodness for a relatively low [...]
