Bill Gates says the iPad isn’t ‘there yet’
Posted on June 4, 2010 | No CommentsBill Gates, the chairman of Microsoft, was on Larry King Live on CNN last night. (Larry King's still on the air? Gotcha.) He was there with his father, William Henry Gates, Sr., and they talked about a number of fun and exciting things. And wouldn't you know it, the iPad was one of those things. His take on Apple's "magical and revolutionary" thingamajig? It's "not quite there yet." That's fair to say, no?

iPhone 4G casings begin to leak
Posted on May 19, 2010 | No Comments
There's not much to say here. It's somewhat of a normal affair to have cases leak of upcoming Apple products before the actual announcement. We would then go on to speculate about upcoming features and form factor based on said case, but we already know all about the iPhone 4G. There's really nothing a silicon case can add to the conversation. Move along.

An iPod touch with 2MP cam appears in Vietnam
Posted on May 19, 2010 | No Comments
What's going on in Vietnam? Unannounced Apple products seem to be falling from the sky. The same group that released the second round of iPhone 4G pics got their hands on an iPod touch with a 2MP rear-facing camera. The DVT-1 stamp clearly states that it's not a production model, but rather a pre-production or prototype model, suggesting that this boy might not ever get a release.

iPhone OS 4 unlocks 720p video capture, further solidifying iPhone HD?
Posted on May 5, 2010 | No Comments
Last time on let's-speculate-about-Apple-products, the New iPhone rumor mill dug up dirt on video chat and a 5 megapixel camera. Now, it appears there might be one more reason to call it the iPhone HD. MacRumors reports that the iPhone SDK 4 beta includes the value "AVCaptureSessionPreset1280x720," leading some to believe Cupertino's next phone will record video in 720p. Mind you, the iPhone 3GS was technically already capable of that feat, so this might not have anything to do with a new handset, but honestly, at this point the iPhone's camera wouldn't be competitive recording in a smaller format anyhow.iPhone OS 4 unlocks 720p video capture, further solidifying iPhone HD? originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 05 May 2010 22:52:00 EST. iPad banned from several American universities over ’security’ concerns
Posted on April 16, 2010 | No CommentsThree high-profile American universities, Cornell University, Princeton University, and George Washington University, have banned the iPad from their campuses. George Washington University and Princeton University call the device a "security risk," while Cornell is concerned about students chewing through too much bandwidth. So much for the iPad being the darling of higher education.

CNN & Cracked take the piss out of Apple and Jobs
Posted on February 17, 2010 | No Comments
As much as we love Apple products here at CrunchGear, sometimes we don't particularly care for Apple the company. Realistically, if you look at their track record, there's quite an interesting list of abuses towards their customers with the supposedly untouchable Steve Jobs at the center of it all.

Nokia brings Apple patent fight to the ITC, says most Apple products infringe
Posted on December 29, 2009 | No CommentsLooks like Nokia's pulling all the stops in its patent fight with Apple: in addition to the already-filed lawsuit, the Finnish company has now filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission, alleging that "virtually all" of Apple's products infringe one of seven patents covering user interfaces, cameras, antennas, and power management. Ouch. Of course, this is a pretty standard tactic as far as major patent disputes go -- this is just a second front of the same war, and we'd expect Apple to lodge an ITC complaint of its own in due time. What could make this interesting is the ITC's power to ban imports of infringing products in relatively short order, so we'll be keeping a close eye on this one.Nokia brings Apple patent fight to the ITC, says most Apple products infringe originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 29 Dec 2009 15:31:00 EST.
