Nokia brings Apple patent fight to the ITC, says most Apple products infringe
Posted on December 29, 2009 | No CommentsLooks like Nokia's pulling all the stops in its patent fight with Apple: in addition to the already-filed lawsuit, the Finnish company has now filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission, alleging that "virtually all" of Apple's products infringe one of seven patents covering user interfaces, cameras, antennas, and power management. Ouch. Of course, this is a pretty standard tactic as far as major patent disputes go -- this is just a second front of the same war, and we'd expect Apple to lodge an ITC complaint of its own in due time. What could make this interesting is the ITC's power to ban imports of infringing products in relatively short order, so we'll be keeping a close eye on this one.Nokia brings Apple patent fight to the ITC, says most Apple products infringe originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 29 Dec 2009 15:31:00 EST. Microsoft Germany: Sprechen nicht von Apple!
Posted on December 9, 2009 | No CommentsMicrosoft’s PR folks in Germany have officially asked journalists not to use or talk about Apple products during their events. Why? Because one journo said his iPhone kicked ass. 9to5 has a translation of the German story which essentially amounts to a Microsoft asking a journalist not to use his Apple products at an event. “While [...] -
Survey: Apple products totally popular with the rich kids
Posted on October 7, 2009 | No CommentsGrowing up, was there anything worse than being called a rich kid? Granted, it was probably just a case of petty jealousy—I wish I had a power wheel!—but man oh man did the rich kid win no friends. Fast-forward a few years, and the rich kid isn't just flaunting his new lunchbox and Spider-Man sneakers, no sir: he's driving a brand new car and checking his Facebook on his shiny, new iPhone 3G S. Or, a long way of say the obvious: Apple products are popular with kids from wealthy parents.

Apple to Greenpeace: Look, we’re trying our best, ok!
Posted on September 25, 2009 | No CommentsIt looks like all of Greenpeace's needling of Apple over the past few years has paid off, as the house that Jobs built is about to announce its successes in becoming a more green company. Think carbon emissions data, all that jazz. Even though Apple is trying plenty hard to assuage the Green Brigade, it thinks it's being treated rather unfairly.

Now that he’s talking… Here’s 6 Questions Apple’s Phil Schiller should answer
Posted on August 12, 2009 | No CommentsSo, apparently, Apple’s Phil Schiller is starting to talk about Apple’s missteps. After months of silence, one of Apple’s top executives (and possibly the most public-facing one next to Jobs) has started to reach out to the tech community to help explain Apple’s numerous, absurdly embarrassing blunders. Some may be satisfied with Schiller slowly sending [...] -
If Jason Calacanis is against Apple, who can be for it?
Posted on August 9, 2009 | No CommentsIt is the end. Jason “The Animal” Calacanis is thinking about maybe quitting using Apple products, reporting that the company has gone all corporate and mainstream and that Steve has lost his hippie, dippy LSD edge. Look at this language, people: Years and years after Microsoft’s antitrust headlines, Apple is now the anti-competitive monster that Jobs [...] -
HTC Hero flying towards an October 11th launch on Sprint?

Only a small number of iPhone 3GS customers have reported their handsets are reaching very high temperatures. [...] -
iJector: “Mobile theater projector and stereo speaker” for your iPod and iPhone
Posted on June 25, 2009 | No Comments
Tokyo-based electronics company Lancerlink has announced the iJector [JP] today, an LCOS projector that you can use with your iPod or iPhone. Shaped like a dock, the device makes it possible to watch video stored on your iPod on the go via its built-on stereo speakers (3W×2ch).

Guess which portable music player finally outsold the iPod in Japan for the first time in four years? If you read the headline of this post and guessed "The Sony Walkman," then you, my friend, are correct.
