AT&T 3G MicroCell now available in all markets
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsCompleting a phased roll-out that kicked off back in April, AT&T has finally gotten around to launching its 3G MicroCell in all of its markets, giving the entire customer base some flexibility when "more bars in more places" doesn't happen to include your place. Interestingly, the announcement was made in passing during comments by AT&T director Gordon Mansfield at the Femtocells World Summit in London this week, where he spent much of his time trying to quell a minor furor over the carrier's continued application of data caps when using the MicroCell. He makes some pretty strong arguments: even though all MicroCell voice and data traffic starts off traveling over your own internet connection, it ultimately ends up within AT&T's core infrastructure -- and a legal requirement that the carrier be able to intercept traffic for law enforcement use prevents it from diverting that traffic elsewhere. More importantly, though, if you're within range of a MicroCell, odds are very good that you're also within range of a WiFi connection -- and since all of AT&T's data-heavy handsets offer WiFi, the whole complaint is kinda moot. So just get one if you need one and don't worry about it, okay?AT&T 3G MicroCell now available in all markets originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 22 Jun 2010 14:53:00 EST. Video: Yes, that’s Crysis 2 running on the Xbox 360
Posted on June 8, 2010 | No CommentsPart of the draw of Crysis 2 is that it'll run just as well on your Xbox 360 or PS3 as it will on my PC. That's what CryTek, the game's developers, told the gaming press back in April. I saw the Xbox 360 version in action that day, and yeah: it looks insane for an Xbox 360 game; hard to believe it's running on five-year-old hardware. But now you can look at the game in action for yourself~!

Samsung pulls a Google and gives devs free Bada phones, confirms upcoming handsets
Posted on May 24, 2010 | No CommentsGoogle didn’t invent giving stuff away. Oprah did that. Google just made — or at least greatly popularized — the trend of companies giving their latest and greatest handsets to all the attendees of the developer events in hopes of spiking their interest. The latest company to pull a Google: Samsung. At a Developer Day in [...] -
Novatel MiFi 2372 rises from the ocean, stomps its way to Japan
Posted on April 26, 2010 | No CommentsI sort of love the MiFi. (What’s a Mifi? It’s a portable, battery-powered WiFi router that pulls data over a 3G connection.) If I had a box of candy for every time the MiFi got me out of a jam, I’d be.. well, I’d probably be crazy fat. Good news, people of Japan! Now you have [...] -
Samsung’s Bada-powered Wave coming in June, Not April
Posted on April 23, 2010 | No CommentsIs the world ready for yet another smartphone platform? Probably not – but it’s got until June to get prepped. According to Samsung, that’s when they’ll be launching the Wave, their first phone to be powered by Bada. The good word comes after a handful of UK retailers started promising that Wave pre-orders would be filled [...] -
HTC Incredible Revealed on Verizon Staging Site, To Be Called “Droid Incredible”
Posted on April 14, 2010 | No Comments
This is about as firm a leak as you can get: the HTC Incredible has been revealed on a Verizon staging site.
Sadly, no further specs or pricing was revealed, but the April 29th launch date that we talked about earlier is mentioned, as is the new branding for the device: The "Droid Incredible". Not the greatest of names, no, but I'll give the marketers extra points for consistency.

HTC Incredible coming April 29th? Looks like it
Posted on April 7, 2010 | No CommentsFor all of you folks who were left disappointed after Verizon’s deafening silence regarded the HTC Incredible at CTIA : start smiling. Earlier today, the above image from an internal Verizon e-mail started circulating. “New devices coming really soon!”, it promised. Now, it would have probably been safe to assume that included the Incredible – but [...] -

First round of iPads sold out, new pre-orders ship April 12th
Posted on March 27, 2010 | No Comments
Hope you got your iPad already pre-ordered because Apple has pushed back the shipping date for all new orders to April 12th. It's really not that surprising seeing as there have been reports stating Apple may already have 500,000 iPads in the bag. It might be quicker at this point to start camping Apple Stores or Best Buy if you *must* have an iPad the moment it's released. We know that retail outlets will at least have a small supply on April 3 to serve the Apple faithful.

AT&T to begin 3G MicroCell rollout in mid-April, MicroCell unit to cost $150
Posted on March 24, 2010 | No CommentsThe news out of CTIA just won’t stop. AT&T has just announced their roll out plans for their cell-tower-in-a-box, signal-boostin’ 3G MicroCell service, which they’ve had in testing since September. Not sure what the MicroCell is? Don’t sweat it – it’s a bit of a weird concept. If you’re in an area where signal is [...] -
The GigaPan Epic Pro is now shipping to eager photographers
Posted on March 19, 2010 | No Comments
The GigaPan Epic Pro was the Gigapan we were waiting for it. It's, well, professionally epic and capable of using nearly any DSLR camera/lens available thanks to its large magnesium chassis. It was originally going to start shipping sometime in April, but apparently something changed because we just got word from the company itself that its available now.

Barnes & Noble stores aren't going to be the only place you can snag a
