Best Buy iPhone inventory details leak
Posted on June 21, 2010 | No Comments
Looks like Best Buy's inventory details for the iPhone 4 launch have leaked out, and -- if you were one of the many unlucky iPhone luvahs that were unable to place a pre-order last week -- you may want to plan your June 24th around the details.
The skinny of it is that most stores are receiving anywhere between 20 and 70 phones.

Toy Story 3 clearly quite popular, has $109 million opening weekend
Posted on June 21, 2010 | No CommentsIt's safe to say that Toy Story is still Pixar's biggest, most beloved franchise. The third movie, which Biggs inexplicably reviewed the other day—should I review the new Roots album here?— took home some $109 million at the weekend. That's Pixar's biggest opening weekend ever. The other big, animated feature of the year, Shrek Forever After, only took home $71 million its first weekend.

Infectious presents community-designed iPad skins that you’ll actually like
Posted on June 15, 2010 | No CommentsInfectious ran a contest for cool, community-designed graphics and came up with a set of iPad skins the I actually like. My fave? Probably the Gameboy model, shown above, or the pink Vader model that proves your manliness without being too overbearing. Infectious runs a number of design challenges, asking great designers to come up with [...] -
Steve Jobs at D8: Foxconn, iPhone prototype, TVs, and more
Posted on June 2, 2010 | No CommentsIn case you hadn't heard, Steve Jobs got downright conversational last night at D8, riffing on questions from Walt, Kara, and the attending audience of elites. You can hit up the entire liveblog for a timestamped play by play, or browse through some of the highlights below.
- On TV: 'no one wants to buy a box'
- On Foxconn: 'We're all over this'
- On lost iPhone 4G prototype: it's an 'amazing' story
- iPhone OS 'started on a tablet'
- 'There might be' advantages to two iPhone carriers in US
We put some extra scintillating quotes after the break to shield the eyes of your children. Just a note, however: all of these are paraphrased quotes typed live as Steve was speaking, and not to be construed as the verbatim Word of Steve Jobs, though the gist is certainly there.Continue reading Steve Jobs at D8: Foxconn, iPhone prototype, TVs, and more

Microsoft: Steve Ballmer will not be speaking at WWDC.
Posted on May 27, 2010 | No CommentsEarly this morning, the rumormill went a bit bonkers. A hole to a parallel universe apparently ripped open outside of an analyst’s office. Through this hole, the analyst saw a world where Steve Ballmer presented something at Apple’s WWDC 2010 keynote. Alas, the analyst didn’t realize that this was a parallel universe, instead interpreting it [...] -
Nokia N8 on its way to Vodafone UK
Posted on May 27, 2010 | No Comments
Vodafone UK now have the Nokia N8 on their "Coming Soon" page, so it seems a pretty safe bet that Nokia's new top-end Symbian ^3 powered handset will indeed be "Coming Soon" to Vodafone UK.
You can probably also safely bet that the phone is "Coming Soon" to other carriers, too... but I don't have a handy reference page for any other operators. Sorry.

Celebrity Nerds: Oprah has an EVO 4G and you don’t
Posted on May 4, 2010 | No CommentsCelebrity Nerds confirms what you always knew, deep in your heart of hearts: that stars are nerds like us. Send in your own confirmations of this fact right here.
We wish we could tell you that Oprah caused a small riot in Chicago by handing out HTC EVO 4Gs to everyone in her audience but, alas, she seems to have just kept this one for herself. More specifically, she used the "fancy new" phone to show "those of you who actually know how to text" how easy it is to sign her "No Phone Zone" pledge. No discounts, no Bono, just a fleeting glimpse of one of the most anticipated phones of the year. Head on past the break for the video evidence of this momentous event.
[Thanks, Luis]Continue reading Celebrity Nerds: Oprah has an EVO 4G and you don't

Heaven forefend! Has Nintendo’s 3DS announcement killed the DSi XL?
Posted on March 31, 2010 | No CommentsNOT FOR KIDS! In all honesty, I don’t think the DSi XL is part of Nintendo’s standard line-up. It’s a reaction to the popularity of the Wii in retirement centers and is aimed at a much older – and much different audience – than the new 3D DS, aptly named the 3DS. Older folks who may [...] -

No new Wii ‘any time soon’ says Nintendo
Posted on February 25, 2010 | No Comments
Don’t expect new console hardware from Nintendo in the near future. When asked “When do you think it’ll be time for new hardware?” in a recent interview with Gamespot, Nintendo’s Cammie Dunaway replied, “I don’t think it’ll be any time soon because even though our installed base is, at this point, 5 million households larger than the PS2 installed base was at the same point in its lifecycle, it still has a lot of room to grow.”

Building robots capable of playing soccer - that's apparently very hard to pull off, as shown
