What’s the deal with Red Dead Redemption?
Posted on May 23, 2010 | No CommentsRockstar’s Red Dead Redemption came in the mail on Tuesday, and my first course of action was to call the Ron and Fez Show on Sirius XM. “Hey, guys, I see your names in the credits. You rock!” Calling the show and talking to East Side Dave (by the way, SAVE DAVE) and Ron was [...] -
Video: Medal of Honor trailer reveals upcoming beta
Posted on May 6, 2010 | No CommentsA new trailer just posted to the Medal of Honor Web site pretty much checks all the boxes on the Big Checklist of FPS Trailer requirements. Sad, dramatic music; military man talking to his wife on the phone in a reassuring manner "I love you, we're OK because we're trained for this sort of thing, don't forget to have the car inspected," etc.; flash, bang, explosion, fade to black. I really don't know how many of these games I can take. That's not saying it'll be a bad game—I played it, and it is, in fact, quite good&,dash;but I do believe I'm tiring of playing toy soldier.

Review: Guitar Hero Smash Hits (Xbox 360)
Posted on June 30, 2009 | No CommentsI’m no marketing wizard, but Guitar Hero Smash Hits could have been called Guitar Hero: Songs From The First Guitar Hero Games Before The Drums and Microphone Existed But Now You Can Play the Good Songs from Those Games on the Drums and Sing Too. Again, I’m no marketing wizard. And Guitar Hero Smash Hits isn’t [...]
Movie licensed games have generally sucked something fierce. Very rarely are any of them ever any good, and the same goes for movies based on videogames. Something gets lost in translation. Development is typically rushed to coincide with simultaneous launches, and gamers are the ones who suffer the most. There are a few diamonds in the rough (X-Men Origins: Wolverine was pretty good), but they’re few and far between. Activision and Luxoflux’s adaption of the second Transformers cinematic masterpiece falls somewhere in between.
