Lok-it secure USB drive protects your data

I love this device. It's always bothered me that if you lose a USB key, you lose the data as well. The Lok-IT secure USB device makes it so I don't have to worry about losing it. Well, other then the purchase price. The technology is pretty cool in that the computer can't see the drive until the PIN is entered, so it's not easy to hack.

Video: Droid Incredible does multi-touch better than the Nexus One

Nexus One owners, you might want to take a seat for this one. You know the HTC Incredible? That phone that popped up out of no where, matched or surpassed all of the Nexus’ specs, and then killed off any chance of a Nexus One for Verizon? Now, you recall that unfixable issue that the [...]

Google bringing free turn-by-turn navigation to iPhone

Google executives confirmed that the company will soon be delivering turn-by-turn directions to the iPhone. Previously, this free feature was only available to Android smartphone users. This is obviously bad news for GPS hardware companies like TomTom and Magellan, who have their own iPhone apps.

Legal Exploit Enables Tracking and Spying via Cellular Networks

Activate the cone of silence. Don your tinfoil hat. Pull the bedsheets up. Now that you've taken the necessary precautions, I have to tell you some bad news: two researchers have found a way to exploit the mobile phone system in order to locate pretty much anyone they want. That means you, Carmen. All those years of hiding have been for naught. They'll be here any moment now. This is the end: they've found you.

Skyfire For Android Beta Leaked! Have some screenshots.

By the time I got wind that Skyfire was looking for Alpha testers, the sign-up sheet had already been filled to the brim. Bummer, right? Fear not! As luck may have (the "luck" here being for early adopters, if not necessarily Skyfire), a Beta copy just leaked out for all to enjoy.

Droid Incredible Arrives Early For A Lucky Few

Despite the Droid Incredible’s release date still being a long week away, some unnaturally lucky types received have their new toys early. There seems to have been a glitch in the Matrix that caused the phones to travel back in time 9 days. By “Matrix” I mean “Verizon’s phone ordering system” and by “travel back in [...]

Subtitles starting to show up on Netflix instant viewing

There's always been a few annoying little issues left to be addressed on Netflix Instant viewing. I mean, you can't get 1080p, there's not 5.1 sound, and most importantly, there's no subtitles. As someone show has family members with hearing disabilities, I've been keenly aware that Netflix has been lacking in that regard. There's good news though, Netflix has been working on that particular issue, and just started rolling it out to the public.

  • Tens of Millions of Mexicans May be Left Phoneless Come Saturday

Tens of Millions of Mexicans May be Left Phoneless Come Saturday

Around about a year ago, a law was passed in Mexico that would enforce compulsory registration of personal details to a mobile phone account. The idea behind it was to help fight crime (Batman style) by inhibiting the method of delivering ransom and extortion calls. Telcos were given 12 months to collect the personal details of their subscribers. Come Saturday, that 12 months will be up, and despite radio and television commercials urging mobile phone users to register their name and address via text message, around 30 million lines are still unregistered. There is a push from telcos to have the deadline extended by a further 12 months, but senators have thus far refused requests to do so.

Amazon’s convenient packaging hates hard drives

I like Amazon's "frustration free" packaging. When I ordered my copy of Command & Conquer 4, it came in that easy to open package, and it makes sense: why put a dvd in a box with a bag of air, and waste all that shipping? Would I trust a hard drive to that packaging? No way in hell.

Following the launch of the Pre and Pixi on Sprint last year and their respective Plus editions on Verizon back in January, Palm has just announced that they'll soon be launching the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus on AT&T. While its never bad news to get your handsets onto a new carrier, just how good this news is for Palm depends almost entirely on how AT&T handles it.
