PhoneSuit Primo adds extra juice, minimal bulk to your iPhone / iPod
Posted on November 13, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Peripherals, Apple
We were suitably impressed by Mophie's Juice Pack Air extended battery / iPhone case when we got a chance to try one out earlier this year, but if you're looking for an extended battery without the case you might want to consider this new Primo micro battery pack form PhoneSuit. Designed for use with various iPods in addition to the iPhone, this one packs an 800mAh battery inside its tiny enclosure, which promises to add up to 45 hours of music playback time to your iPod, or up to three hours of extra talk time to your iPhone 3G. Better still, it has a fairly reasonable price tag of $35, or you can snag a three-pack for $89.95 if you like to be extra prepared (or are looking for a few stocking stuffers). We'll also be checking this one out ourselves shortly, so stay tuned to see if it actually lives up to its claims.PhoneSuit Primo adds extra juice, minimal bulk to your iPhone / iPod originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Fri, 13 Nov 2009 03:56:00 EST. PowerPak wall charger doubles as portable backup battery
Posted on October 14, 2009 | No Comments
Here's an interesting idea: what if the part of the cell phone charger that you plug into the wall doubled as a rechargeable extended battery pack? That's actually coming in November with the $50 PowerPak from Technocel.

Gigantic iPhone charger packs 3000mAh battery
Posted on October 7, 2009 | No Comments
Whoever manipulated the above image to make this humongous iPhone battery pack look relatively manageable ought to be given a raise. Conversely, whoever wrote “It is not bulky either as it just extends a little at the bottom” in the product description ought to immediately undergo a workplace evaluation. If it happens to be the same person who handled both the photo and the product description, then God help us all.

Goin’ green: the Solar Surge iPhone battery pack
Posted on September 4, 2009 | No Comments
Everyone is trying to be more environmentally responsible these days. Cars, houses, now even phone chargers. Many people are not aware of the fact that the wall chargers that comes with many devices these days consume the same amount of power whether a device is plugged into them or not. The Solar Surge aims to at least help the iPhone/iPod Touch user be a little greener.

At $45, the Energizer XP2000 is without a doubt, the best external power solution that you can buy today.

Kensington outs the Charging Dock with Mini Battery Pack for the whole iPod family
Posted on August 3, 2009 | No Comments
Isn’t this the perfect solution for anyone with an iPhone or iPod Touch (or any iPod for that matter)? I think so. Kensington’s combo charging dock and mini battery pack for the entire iPod family is up for pre-order now. The dock is compatible with the “iPhone 3G, iPhone, iPod touch, iPod nano (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th gen), iPod classic, iPod mini, iPod (1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th gen).” The mini battery pack charges simultaneously as your iPod when docked and will add up to 30 hours of music, six hours of video and three hours of talk time. Not bad for $70.

Man hacks USB charging port into netbook battery
Posted on July 29, 2009 | No CommentsWow, this is impressive. An enterprising young man from a faraway land (the Czech Republic!) took an ordinary battery from an MSI Wind netbook and added a USB charging port to it. He can charge his iPhone twice over and the battery still works like normal in his MSI Wind. They should add USB charging ports to all batteries!

MIT students developing electric car that can be recharged in about ten minutes
Posted on July 22, 2009 | No CommentsStudents at MIT are building an electric car capable of being recharged in about ten minutes. Granted, the kind of power that’s necessary to do that would be enough “to blow the fuses on 20 residential homes at once,” according to project team member and MIT student Radu Gogoana. Thankfully, the car — a modified Mercury [...] -

Solar Vest Charges Gadgets, Shreds Cred
Posted on July 1, 2009 | No CommentsThis is the Solar Vest. If you didn’t know that it was a solar vest, may we draw your attention to the giant, two-inch high letters on the back which spell out “SOLAR VEST”. This is, incredibly, touted on the product site: In case your friends think this is only an ultra-fashionable vest, the words “SOLAR [...]
Battery backup options for the iPhone and iPods, they’re everywhere! Seemingly in yo’ face at all times. This new one from Kensington is a little bit chunkier than most, but it’s got a flip-down USB connector, which means no extra cabling to carry around, and the whole getup doubles as a landscape stand for your iPhone or iPod touch.
You know that strange viral marketing campaign popping up around the Interwebs as of late? Well, we know what it means now thanks to GM's CEO Fritz Henderson and it's somewhat impressive - and a tad dubious. GM is claiming that under the new EPA guidelines, the Chevy Volt will earn 230 MPG. The Volt would be the first car to ever earn a triple digit number.
Take a look at the current high-mileage kings and that 230 MPG rating really sinks in. The EPA handed the Prius a 51 MPG city ranking and the Insight a 41 mpg. The EPA says that the Ford Fusion hybrid can get 41 in the city and the Camary Hybrid 40 MPG in the city. With hyper-mileage tactics like killing the engine while to coast down hills and fancy pedal work, a few obsessed drivers have pushed a few of these cars into triple digit territory.
Kensington's rolling out some new accessories today, a couple for the iPhone/iPod and a couple laptop stands. The two iPod devices are pretty interesting. First, the "Charging Dock with Mini Battery Pack for iPhone and iPod" is pretty much exactly like it sounds.
