Unknown HTC Android phone appears, shrouded in mystery
Posted on June 1, 2010 | No Comments
For those that have only recently tuned in, the Android Guys have just unearthed photos of an upcoming Android handset from HTC, which they speculate to be the forthcoming HTC Aria.
As you'll recall, in last week's episode, we thought that the HTC Aria was the QWERTY phone spotted at the FCC some months ago. However, the phone here appears to be of the slate variety... so... where does this leave us?
Confused for a start, but no more than usual after a long weekend.

Sony Ericsson acknowledges touchscreen issues on Aino
Posted on November 26, 2009 | No CommentsAs if the Aino's odd name wasn't handicap enough, Sony Ericsson's taking another hit on its high-end Remote Play-capable full-touch (but Symbian-free) phone today with news that it's got a dodgy touchscreen. It's unclear exactly what's wrong or how it's ultimately going to get resolved, but several British retailers -- most notably behemoth Carphone Warehouse -- have elected to yank it from shelves until they've gotten confirmation that the mothership has fixed the problem. A company spokesman notes that "Aino has sold in limited numbers in the UK, so this issue affects only a very small number of customers," which is a backhanded way of saying "for once, we're incredibly lucky no one wants this thing" -- though considering that the Satio's on hold now, too, "lucky" might not be the right word for it. For what it's worth, Sony's US SonyStyle store is still hawking Ainos for $600, so part with that six-pack of Benjamins at your own risk.Sony Ericsson acknowledges touchscreen issues on Aino originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 26 Nov 2009 18:19:00 EST. Sony wants everyone to make.believe
Posted on September 2, 2009 | No CommentsThere was a time when Sony’s message was true. “Like.no.other” described Sony, but not any more as its products are less innovative and more evolutionary. But we’re glad to see Sony move past the old mantra. Now, for the first time, Sony has adopted one message across all its markets: make.believe. So we will. We’ll make believe [...] -
Analysts believe iPhone will become non-AT&T exclusive in a year
Posted on August 31, 2009 | No Comments
Oh, Gene Munster. You keep popping up like the loose Cheerios my nine-month-old daughter drops at breakfast. What are you up to this time, you little scamp?
Munster of Piper Jaffray "predicts" that AT&T will lose its iPhone exclusivity by the end of 2010, thereby rendering the company impotent and insolvent. Some contenders for the iPhone throne include Verizon. This ignores the fact that AT&T is fighting like a champ to keep the iPhone until 2011 but it seems the popular perception of AT&T as a pile of fail may put a damper on Apple's wish to stay put.

Medion’s Akoya P7700 D PC will do your multimedia right on a budget
Posted on May 28, 2009 | No CommentsThere are little HTPCs that hum indiscreetly amidst your home theater equipment, and then are there behemoth multimedia PCs that gobble down all the HD content you can shove at them while playing Crysis at 80fps and folding proteins in the background. Medion's Akoya P7700 D looks to fall somewhere in between, featuring a strong Intel Core 2 Quad processor, a middling NVIDIA GeForce GT 230 with HDMI output, 1TB of storage to start, and a Blu-ray drive all in a case that has pleasant enough looks but won't be squeezing into many entertainment centers. The system hits Europe this week for a reasonable €699 (about $970), and if you get lucky could be appearing in local Aldi circulars soon.
