Pre-ordered your iPhone 4 at Radio Shack? Sucks to be you – UPDATE
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No Comments
We're getting reports from some folks who tried to work around the massive fail-up during last week's pre-order fiasco and pre-order from Radio Shack, Best Buy, and Wal-Mart. The reports aren't good.
It seems that most stores will not have them in stock tomorrow and that you should probably check with your pre-order store before you head down. One reader, DW, writes:
Hello, I just wanted to let you guys know that I spoke with the Manager of the RadioShack store that I pre-ordered my iPhone from and he let me know that none of the customers who pre-ordered an iPhone 4 would be getting one from his store tomorrow (Thursday).

Virgin Mobile launching prepaid MiFi next week
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No Comments
The spotlight on Sprint's MiFi has definitely faded since the launch of the Overdrive and EVO 4G -- both of which can kick it into high 4G gear when in range -- but Sprint subsidiary Virgin Mobile is bringing Novatel's groundbreaking mobile hotspot back into the forefront by taking it to the prepaid world. What that means is that you'll be paying $149 for the MiFi itself -- contract free, naturally -- plus any of a number of prepaid data rates ranging from $10 for 100MB all the way up to $60 for 5GB. It's said to be launching next Monday online and in Best Buy and Radio Shack locations -- so if you're an occasional data user, this might be about the best option on the block.Virgin Mobile launching prepaid MiFi next week originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 23 Jun 2010 07:54:00 EST. What happened to the white iPhone 4?
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No Comments
It shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but Best Buy has just gotten around to confirming that it won't have any stock of the white iPhone 4 come launch day on Thursday -- the same situation that both AT&T and Apple itself are in. For many buyers, it's not a big deal -- either they don't mind the black version, or they'd planned on buying black anyway -- but for others, this is putting a significant crimp on the launch day festivities. We reached out to Apple and got this:
In other words, they're not revealing much of anything -- okay, scratch that, they're not revealing anything at all about its mystery-shrouded delay, the circumstances behind it, or how long we can expect to wait. So here's our question: what, exactly, happened to the white iPhone 4?"There is tremendous excitement for the new iPhone 4 and we are working to get as many of them into the hands of customers as possible. At launch, we have the black models available for purchase and we will be adding the white models as quickly as we can."What happened to the white iPhone 4? originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 23 Jun 2010 06:48:00 EST. iPhone 4 arrives at Walmart (update: and Best Buy!)
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No CommentsCheck out that sweet, sweet box. Yes folks, we seem to have received our very first in-the-cardboard picture of the retail iPhone 4 out in the wild. We don't work at Walmart, so we can't verify this one for ourselves, but our tipster says Apple's latest phone has just landed in the big box retailer's storehouses.
P.S. -- Before you start frothing at the mouth, the CDMA coding on the box in the background relates to an LG 290C handset also stocked by Walmart.
Update: A shot of a Best Buy arrival is past the break.Continue reading iPhone 4 arrives at Walmart (update: and Best Buy!)
