The Chevy Volt will of course support Blackberry and iPhone apps
Posted on December 10, 2009 | No CommentsGM has a lot riding on the Chevy Volt. It’s not the vehicle that will save the company from failure, (the Chevy Cruze will do that) but it’s huge PR halo car. It will be the car that draws everyone’s attention back to the auto maker and having the car work with a flashy iPhone [...] -
Verizon goes after Sprint’s ‘most dependable 3G network’ ad claim
Posted on November 24, 2009 | No CommentsLooks like Verizon's addicted to the sweet taste of success: following its victory over AT&T regarding the Map For That ads, Big Red's complaining to the The National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus about Sprint's "America's most dependable 3G network" tagline. Verizon says that a recent Nielsen survey shows its network drops fewer calls than Sprint's, and for now the bureaucrats agree -- the board's asked Sprint to stop airing the ads. For its part, Sprint says one study doesn't tell the whole tale, and it's going to keep showing the ads while it appeals to the National Advertising Review Board. In other news, Verizon's lawyers were seen heading to the local BMW dealership late last night, following a run-in with Sprint's attorneys at the Mercedes-Benz showroom.Continue reading Verizon goes after Sprint's 'most dependable 3G network' ad claim

New Thermaltake case looks hot, runs cool
Posted on September 28, 2009 | No Comments
Thermaltake is one of my personal favorite case makers, I've owned a few of their products in my time, but this Level 10 is exceptional. Announced at CeBit in March, the Level 10 was designed with the help of BMW DesignWorks, and it is amazing. MaximumPC got one first, but they were kind enough so share some unboxing pictures with the world.

Garmin announces the BMW Motorrad Navigator IV GPS
Posted on July 6, 2009 | No Comments
GPS’s are mostly uninteresting to me since I have little use for one in NYC, so this post is mostly for my brother and his BMW.
It’s unclear what the “expanded relationship” is between Garmin and BMW Motorrad, but I’m pretty sure the announcement of the BMW Motorrad Navigator IV GPS is the extent of that whole business.

The first Mini E is now cruising around LA
Posted on May 28, 2009 | No Comments
One lucky Californian dude is cruising in style after he took delivery of the very first production electric Mini. The Mini-E is available for lease on a very limited basis reminiscent of the GM EV-1 from the '90s. Except this time around, the plug-in electric car will only be in customers hands for one short year instead of three. Presumably, the 500 cars will be sent back to Mini for testing and evaluation after the one year is up.
Anyway, Peter Trepp has a blog up about the car and his experiences. He seems totally satisfied despite driving the car in bad LA traffic his first time out. Interestingly, he notes that the Mini-E drivers will not have to touch the brake pedal at all thanks to the strong brake regeneration system, which makes me think this vehicle has a similar system as the Chevy Volt that I didn't like.
