Flash ported to the iPod Touch, in a manner of speaking
Posted on June 14, 2010 | No CommentsSure it looks horrible and the video is awful, but believe us when we tell you that the same guys who created the Spirit jailbreak have ported Flash to the iPhone. The video, apparently taken through the pinhole camera truck the Bloodhound Gang built back in the 1980s to see where they were [...] -
Jabra Stone goes exclusive in white for AT&T
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No CommentsJabra's Stone is still one of the more stylish Bluetooth headsets ever to take on the market, but you know what makes anything more stylish? Painting it white. Sure enough, the white Stone looks pretty sweet in pictures, and it's an AT&T exclusive starting today for $129 in stores. That's a little steep for a headset, sure, but one small bonus is that buyers who complete a survey after picking it up will receive a $30 card good toward other products in the AT&T store -- so that takes the edge off the pocketbook sting, we suppose.Jabra Stone goes exclusive in white for AT&T originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Wed, 09 Jun 2010 19:39:00 EST. Twilight-customized LG GD510 set to Eclipse all other phones in France
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No CommentsThink Apple and Android fans are hardcore? Those guys are mere lightweights compared to Twilight fanatics, who'll soon have a phone to call their own too. Coming with eight tie-in wallpapers and that embellished back cover, this version of the GD510 -- a thoroughly unexciting featurephone with ambitions above its 3-inch, resistive touchscreen station -- has just become available over in France, for free on contracts with Orange or in exchange for €199 ($238). As a bonus temptation, LG is also throwing in a free copy of Twilight: New Moon, though we doubt anyone buying this phone will have seen that movie less than a dozen times.Twilight-customized LG GD510 set to Eclipse all other phones in France originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 09 Jun 2010 08:28:00 EST. Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G put through its bandwidth-sucking paces
Posted on May 12, 2010 | No CommentsSo, since you're stuck paying $10 extra per month for "premium data services" (not that bad of a 4G tax, if you ask us), what wonders await you on the HTC EVO 4G, fueled by Sprint's next-gen network? Well, if these best-case-scenario tests we just did are any indication: everything you ever dreamed of. Of course, Sprint's WiMAX might end up stumbling up the steps of reality, but there's no denying that this is 21st century technology that's worthy of some of the excitement that's been lavished upon it. We just saw demos of Qik video conferencing, YouTube HQ (output brilliantly over HDMI), simultaneous data and voice usage, and even a straight-up speed test (4Mbps down, 1Mbps up, the latter of which is a hard cap). The phone performed brilliantly in each scenario, but of course that's to be expected when you have a 4G tower in the building. Check out the videos of all this breathless action after the break. Added bonus? All four (totaling about 100MB) were uploaded with our laptop tethered over WiFi to an HTC EVO 4G. Don't be jealous. Okay, be just a little bit jealous.Continue reading Sprint's HTC EVO 4G put through its bandwidth-sucking paces

Exciting interview: UFC’s Chuck Liddell talks Reebok ZigTech, his MMA future and the Apple iPad. Yes, the iPad.
Posted on April 15, 2010 | No CommentsI had myself a bit of a field trip yesterday, going over to Reebok’s fancy gym on Columbus Avenue in New York to try out their new ZigTech shoes. The name alone implies, well, tech, which would explain my presence there. Bonus: I got to interview former UFC light heavyweight Chuck Liddell. Truly an [...] -

Break free from the corporate Snuggie stranglehold by sewing your own

Are we still expected, in the year 2010, to pay $20 plus $8 shipping for a Snuggie? And another $8 shipping for a second bonus Snuggie? NO! Show the fat cats at the Snuggie conglomerate that you’re onto their little ruse. Take a big piece of fabric – any fabric you want! -- cut some arm holes, and sew some arms onto the arm holes.

Video: The Energy Dance Floor converts the energy you waste while dancing to wonderful lights
Posted on January 25, 2010 | No CommentsFun fact: Richard Nixon didn’t like dancing. Cool, huh? Useless trivia aside, this video is actually tremendous. (So many videos out there are rubbish .) It helps to explain the Energy Dance Floor, which converts the leftover energy associated with dancing, and uses it to light all these lights. Bonus: the video is subtitled in [...] -
AT&T sued by Washington DC for unused balances on calling cards
Posted on January 3, 2010 | No CommentsHere's a superficially curious, but fundamentally quite important, bit of legal wrangling for you. Reuters is reporting that the District of Columbia has filed suit against AT&T Corp for the recovery of unused balances on calling cards purchased from the telecom giant. Estimated at somewhere between 5 and 20 percent of the overall value of the cards, the so-called breakage -- leftover credit that customers neglect to use -- has typically remained with the carrier as a sort of predictable bonus. The DC Attorney General, however, is seeking to have breakages treated as unclaimed property, which under district law means that after three years they must be returned to the state. Whichever side of the fence you sit on, the decision on this case will set a significant precedent for the future of such prepaid services.AT&T sued by Washington DC for unused balances on calling cards originally appeared on Engadget on Sun, 03 Jan 2010 15:10:00 EST. T-Mobile cautiously resumes Sidekick sales at lower prices
Posted on November 17, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, T-Mobile, Danger, EDGE, EV-DO, HSDPA, UMTS
After a protracted "let's be absolutely certain we're in the clear" period, T-Mobile has gone ahead and lifted its self-imposed moratorium on Sidekick sales following that little meltdown you may have heard about. Oh, and there's a bonus, too: they're a little cheaper this time around. The Sidekick 2008 has dropped to $49.99 on contract while the top-of-the-line LX 2009 has shed $25 down to $149.99 on contract, so if you were looking for an excuse to live dangerously with your precious address book, this might be as good of a reason as any. Then again, what are the odds of lightning striking twice?
