Update: Downgrading to 2.4 is the best way to get back Boxee and XMBC back on your Apple TV
Posted on October 31, 2009 | No Comments
To repeat, do not upgrade your Apple TV to 3.0 if you're running hacked ATV plugins like XBox Media Center or Boxee. I'm sure this will be fixed in a matter of days - if not hours - but as of right now it means a ride on the Failboat to Sad Trombone Town. That's right: this update destroys the only thing that makes Apple TV usable and good.
Also, as an added bonus, Apple TV firmware 3.0 is insignificant. It adds Internet radio to the package and improves the UI. It also adds Genius playlists. My cup, as they say, runneth over.
UPDATE - Post has been update with instructions for downgrading to firmware 2.4.

Attention those of you wanting to ding 80 in World of Warcraft: Zygor 2.0 guide is out today
Posted on October 20, 2009 | No CommentsReally, really big news today for World of Warcraft players. Today's the day that Zygor's leveling guide hits version 2.0. Leveling guides are used by players to hit level 80 (or, soon, 85) as quickly as possible so they can more quickly enjoy the endgame content. Think of them like GameFAQs or the old school Brady Games or Versus Books strategy guides.

Maybe I’m the only one who doesn’t ‘get’ iTunes LP
Posted on September 13, 2009 | No CommentsThis is probably a question that the record labels should be asking, but I'll ask it here anyway: how do you guys listen to music in 2009? On your iPhone (or whatever portable device, it doesn't matter for the purposes of this here post)? On your computer while you surf your favorite Web sites? At the gym? Now, how many of you will sit in front of your computer, and devote 100 percent of your attention to the iTunes visualizer? Not too many of you, I'd venture to guess.

Mouse pad enthusiasts, this is your bag
Posted on September 11, 2009 | No Comments
Hey guys. Hanging out on a pile of rocks with your laptop bags, huh? Can I join you? No? Why, because I don’t have my own laptop bag? Ah, I see. Laptop Bag Owners Club members only, eh? Tough but fair. If I buy one of those bags can I join you? No? Ah, I see. The Laptop Bag Owners Club is also known as the No Dougs Club, too. Gotcha. What if I change my first na—just no? No, in general, no matter what? Okay, thanks anyway.

The iPad Macbook touch, jumping the shark edition
Posted on August 23, 2009 | No CommentsCould this be the Macbook iPad Touch Tablet Notebook Edition e-Reader? Contest: Target exclusive Hasbro Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Superion up for grabs
Posted on August 18, 2009 | No Comments
I know that I’m totally out of Hasbro’s targeted demo, but the Target exclusive Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Superion is the hardest thing I’ve ever tried to assemble. A month after the fact, I still haven’t been able to put it together, which is why Target is hooking us up with five Superions to give away. I challenge all of you to do better than me (if you win). I remember the days when Hasbro’s Transformers toys were totally awesome and easy to put together. What the heck happened? I also miss the red decoder bonus from the old toys.

Anvil Motion cabinets: crazy cool and crazy expensive
Posted on August 6, 2009 | No CommentsI’ll seriously try to withhold any jokes about us becoming lazy or references to Asimov’s Three Law of Robotics in this post. Also, I’ll try not to talk about how people like you and me will never ever have a system like this installed in our homes. With all that out of the way, I [...] -
Pre-order bonus for Gran Turismo PSP: Bugatti Veyron, 1974 Lamborghini Countach (and more!)
Posted on August 4, 2009 | No CommentsTo be honest, I've paid next to no attention to Gran Turismo for the PSP, primarily because I stopped with Gran Turismo 3. That, and the PSP is sorta meh, to use a fake word. Be that as it may, Sony has arranged a pretty neat pre-order bonus for those of you who... pre-order the game.

When you want to care enough to send the best, but forget
Posted on July 30, 2009 | No Comments
I mailed a birthday card out yesterday to a family member who's birthday was, in fact, last week. I'm such a bad relation. I had the decency to include a check and a witty comment, but I know it's going to be too little, too late. If only I could go back in time to yesterday, knowing what I know today. See, I just found out about cake in a jar! Boy howdy, would the lateness of my gift be forgiven and forgotten when they opened up that box to find a delicious, moist cake in a jar waiting for them!

Rechargeable air horn ushers in age of endless amusement
Posted on July 13, 2009 | No Comments
The common air horn: enhancer of graduation ceremonies, sporting event attention-getter, and the perfect way to wake someone out of a drunken slumber. But air horns are expensive and they don't last that long -- there's got to be a better way!
