HP and Dell say the 10-inch netbook market is getting too crowded
Posted on April 1, 2010 | No Comments
Despite the boom in netbooks in recent years thanks to a poor economy and cash-strapped consumers, a recent Digitimes article reported that HP and Dell are actually reducing their investments in the commoditized 10-inch netbook market. In fact, HP is considering quitting the 10-inch segment altogether to focus on its 11.6-inch AMD notebooks as the Intel Pine Trail netbooks have not been very profitable.

Shavers, git-fiddles and synths, oh my
Posted on March 1, 2010 | No CommentsGood old Bill Ruppert sent us the video of his latest creation, a complete homage to “Welcome to the Machine” using only EHX pedals and an electric shaver. Crazy stuff. From the EHX post: In this episode we explore how to produce synthesizer sounds and effects from the classic Pink Floyd recording “Welcome To The Machine.“ The [...] -
MagicJack CEO: netTalk is garbage! netTALK: No we aren’t!
Posted on January 26, 2010 | No CommentsI love CEO spats. A few days ago the MagicJack CEO, Dan Borislow (Shown above at his party at CES. Seriously. It was just like that.) was talking about his femtocell and was all like: I’m sure you’ve heard of netTALK, the new magicJack rival. Any opinions on the device? It’s a piece of sh*t. It has [...] -

Nokia sues Apple, says iPhone infringes ten patents
Posted on October 22, 2009 | No CommentsBoom. Nokia's just hit Apple with a patent infringment lawsuit, claiming that "all iPhones models shipped" infringe on ten of Espoo's patents relating to GSM, UMTS, and WiFi. According to Nokia's press release, the patents in question have been licensed by some 40 other companies, "including virtually all the leading mobile device vendors," and Apple's refused to agree to "appropriate" license terms. That's pretty vague, actually -- it could either mean that Apple was willing to license the patents at a price less than what Nokia demanded, or it could mean that Apple refused to pay at all. We'll obviously be covering this one in great detail as it progresses -- stay tuned for a fun decade or so of litigation.

Good news: NASA did not blow up the Moon with the LCROSS
Posted on October 9, 2009 | No Comments
Just a few minutes ago at 7:13:19 AM EDT, NASA crashed a probe into the Moon at 5,600 MPH with the hope of finding water. BOOM!
NASA broadcasted the entire thing live on its TV station and online, but if you missed our previous post and just learned about the event, you probably didn't catch it. However, the NASA geeks are currently analyzing the LCROSS data and will hopefully announces their findings at the 10 AM EDT scheduled press event. In the mean time, go tell your wackjob neighbor that the Moon is still in the same ol' spot and there isn't a conspiracy to mess with the tides. Crazies. Gotta love 'em.
