  • iPhone 4 drop test yields results (video)

iPhone 4 drop test yields results (video)

There's been a lot of fuss about the iPhone 4's Gorilla Glass "custom glass" comparable in strength to sapphire crystal but 30 times harder than plastic. Sounds incredible, right? But make no mistake, that front glass panel will still break if dropped. Ok, it took four deliberate attempts to accomplish what you see above but it still happened. Bottom line: like any cellphone, you'll have to worry about more than just scratches. See the destruction after the break.

    T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide review

Like it or not, T-Mobile has now officially turned its myTouch brand into an entire franchise, thanks to the addition of a second model and an entire line of styled accessories -- but it's not just about the hardware. Far from it, in fact: with the myTouch 3G Slide, the carrier has actually built a custom skin on top of HTC's Sense for Android 2.1, and all kidding aside, this phone represents one of the deepest carrier-customized experiences we've ever seen. Seeing how this phone arguably represents the true successor to the G1 -- T-Mobile's (and the world's) first retail Android device -- it's pretty important that they get this right, particularly considering how critical it is for a carrier's bottom line to capitalize on the meaty, profitable midrange of its smartphone lineup. Does the myTouch 3G Slide live up to the G1's good name? Read on.

  • Is the Asus Rampage III Extreme the best motherboard ever or overpriced hype?

Is the Asus Rampage III Extreme the best motherboard ever or overpriced hype?

Moments ago, in our chatroom, I said that, if I had the money, I'd buy two Asus Rampage III Extreme motherboards: one to use and one to hang on the wall like a diploma. That's how great the thing looks. Never mind that, simply reading the stats, it's one of the best motherboard money can buy as of today—it looks as if it was designed by an extraterrestrial being, one with an advanced outer space art degree. It's a very good board, but is it OMG BEST THING EVER~!

  • Review: Energizer Recharge Smart Charger

    Review: Energizer Recharge Smart Charger

The last time I paid attention to rechargeable batteries was probably back in the early 1990s. We had this huge recharging tech that allowed you to recharge all sorts of batteries - none of which we owned - so we were limited to recharging the D cells we had and used in, as I recall, some kind of remote controlled boat. Anyway, Energizer has brought the battery charger into the 21st century by adding an LCD display that shows current charge level and, get this, hours left until a full charge. There's not much to say here. You can charge AA and AAA batteries - not at the same time - and the $19.99 kit includes four AA batteries, which is nice.

    Review: iRobot Looj

Let it be said that I do not like heights. I also do not like cleaning out gutters. Add those two “dislikes” together and you get the iRobot Looj. The Looj, unlike iRobot’s Roomba, is slightly less intelligent than a broom on the end of a large stick, but it serves a very important purpose: [...]

Review: Aluratek Libre eBook Reader PRO

Short Version The hardware is a little old but the fact you can by a fairly capable ebook reader for under $150 is an interesting thing, especially in this overpriced world of iPads, Nooks, and Kindles. No more Linux for the PS3

I almost bought a Sony PS3 specifically so that I could use Linux on it. Now, I'm glad I didn't, because Sony has announced that in an upcoming firmware release they're going to remove support for alternate operating systems. The official explanation for the removal of this feature is "due to security concerns", but no specific security concerns have actually been mentioned yet.

Review: POD X3 Digital Guitar Amp Modeler

As immature as it sounds, I was originally suspect of Line 6 products because I did not like the name of their Variax guitar line. (Whew, glad that’s off my chest). • December was the best month ever for video game sales

December was the best month ever for video game sales

Looks like the recession is helping at least one industry. NPD Group reported that the video game industry turned in $5.53 billion dollars in sales for December, topping the results from last year by 4 percent! Boring as all these statistics are, the bottom line is people spent a whole lot of money on video games last month. The previous record was set in December of 2008, which was the first time that sales went over $5 billion.
