Telefonica gets behind MeeGo, says ’smartphones, netbooks, tablets, and internet connected TVs’ are possibilities
Posted on June 2, 2010 | No Comments
Virtually all of the MeeGo buzz since Intel and Nokia's tie-up back in February has been focused on high-end smartphones, tablets, and netbooks, but Telefonica reminds us that there's another potential target for the platform, too -- connected TVs. The Spanish wireless, fixed internet, and cable operator has thrown its weight behind MeeGo this week (which is a pretty big deal considering that the company has global reach across 25 countries and about a quarter billion subscribers), hinting that "services could potentially include content and applications that can be accessed from devices such as smartphones, netbooks, tablets, and internet connected TVs for Telefonica's wireline and wireless operations." We've yet to see any set-top box announcements in the MeeGo space, but with Google trying to light fires under the connected TV market, we imagine some competitors are bound to emerge -- and it's probably a good sign that they've got the backing of a cable company.Telefonica gets behind MeeGo, says 'smartphones, netbooks, tablets, and internet connected TVs' are possibilities originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 02 Jun 2010 16:58:00 EST. Keepin’ it real fake: N8 available now, only not from Nokia
Posted on May 30, 2010 | No CommentsWell, it was bound to happen: a flagship device released as a KIRF (for the second time) well ahead of its official launch. Unfortunately, that's what happens when you delay a product that already leaked months in advance. The $99.20 "N8-00" might share its name and stylings with Nokia's imminent Symbian flagship but that's where the similarities end. This Chinese N8 packs a 3.3-inch touchscreen (resistive, no doubt), a quad-band GSM radio, pair of VGA cameras (ha!), 2GB of MicroSD blah blah blah... hey, let's be honest, the specs don't really matter do they? This "Nseries" device, like all KIRFs, will be sold to poseurs who want to look the part before quickly discarding it for the next trend. Picture of the backside after the break.
[Thanks, Arnout and everyone who sent this in]Continue reading Keepin' it real fake: N8 available now, only not from Nokia

T-Mobile Garminfone looks confirmed for June 2 release
Posted on May 24, 2010 | No CommentsIt seems that your wait for Garmin's first T-Mobile-bound phone -- the aptly-named Garminfone -- might be a short one. We'd already known it was coming in June for $200, but this shot here makes it sounds like June 2 is the date you should start lining up in front of the store at four in the morning (we kid, we kid) for your shot at arguably the best turn-by-turn experience available on an Android phone today. You can get over the lack of Froyo and a 3.5mm headphone jack, right?

Mystery Motorola Droid (Shadow?) spotted with Verizon branding, set to be starting somethin’
Posted on May 22, 2010 | No CommentsWhy hello there... you. Over at the HowardForums, a certain "wnrussell" has uploaded a picture of what looks to be a Getting Started manual for a Verizon-bound Motorola Droid that we can't recall ever seeing before. There's unfortunately no other information provided at the moment, except maybe a hint from the filename: Shadow. Is this the same 4.3-inch phone we've been seeing rumored for some time now? At any rate, we gotta say, this is a pretty attractive device -- and if that's a new hue for Motoblur, we're all for it. Now how about pulling out a secret slide-out keyboard to make our lives complete...

Motorola Motoroi getting Android 2.1, bound for UK?
Posted on May 14, 2010 | No CommentsThere's no word yet on when the Motorola Motoroi will make it to T-Mobile (in the industry we call that "the T-Motoroiola rumor") but there has definitely been a good deal of chatter concerning this handset. The latest has Pocket-lint confirming a UK release with Moto itself. Offering similarities to Taipei's HSPA-lovin' XT701, users in Ol' Blighty (and the rest of the UK) can look forward to an 8-megapixel camera (with a Xenon flash), support for 720p video, mini HDMI, and an unspecified processor boost. In addition, Android 2.1 is likely to be part of the deal. We have neither a timeline nor a price, and the veracity of this rumor is yet to be established (although it does seem like a no-brainer), but if this all goes down as Pocket-lint says it will you can color us Yanks mighty jealous.Motorola Motoroi getting Android 2.1, bound for UK? originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 14 May 2010 14:04:00 EST. The official Sony NEX-5 and NEX-3 commercial shows off the dummy proof interface
Posted on May 11, 2010 | No Comments
There's no doubt that the Sony NEX-5 and NEX-3 are hot cameras. They mate interchangeable lens with a very slim body that houses a low-noise 14.2MP sensor. But apparently the user interface has been reworked to be a lot more user friendly. We first got wind of this yesterday when the NEX-3 leaked, but now the official commercial gives us a quick taste of the interface. (0:15 mark) We definitely like what we're seeing. This camera is bound to be the coolest kid in school.

Exciting interview: UFC’s Chuck Liddell talks Reebok ZigTech, his MMA future and the Apple iPad. Yes, the iPad.
Posted on April 15, 2010 | No CommentsI had myself a bit of a field trip yesterday, going over to Reebok’s fancy gym on Columbus Avenue in New York to try out their new ZigTech shoes. Palm stock continues to climb, all thanks to the Rumor Mill
Posted on April 9, 2010 | No CommentsTwo days ago, something crazy happened: after spiraling downward for almost a year, Palm’s stock finally started to climb thanks to a rumor that Lenovo was considering snatching the injured company up. We expected things to level off pretty quickly — and they did, at a growth of right around 20% with a going price [...] -
HTC Incredible gets rendered, looks incredible
Posted on April 9, 2010 | No Comments
We can't say for sure whether this is an actual leak or the work of an overly talented individual with just the right amount of time on their hands. Either way, that render up there is the most gloriously high resolution look at the Verizon-bound HTC Incredible Android wunderphone that we've been blessed with so far.

iTiki iPhone Case…Um, something is wrong with me, because I kinda want one?

It’s the silicone incarnation of the same spirit who, according to [...] -

HTC Desire headed for AT&T, Sprint picks up Legend (as Hero2)?
Posted on February 23, 2010 | No Comments
HTC seemed pretty confident that the HTC Desire and HTC Legend weren't US-bound when we talked to them at Mobile World Congress. But hey, things change -- right? Boy Genius Report has just received word that the two handsets are bound for this side of the ocean, along with details on which carriers might be nabbing them.
