Google Mobile iPhone App gets a minor bump
Posted on December 10, 2009 | No CommentsIf the little gleaming update notification badge on the App Store hasn’t already caught your eye, it’s time to update the ol’ Google Mobile app – especially if you’ve got an accent. The biggest change is in how the app gets things done. Where as it used to boot into Safari as soon as you tapped [...] -
Samsung unleashes WinMo 6.5 upgrade for AT&T’s Jack
Posted on November 4, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Software, Samsung, ATT, Windows Mobile
It's not often that a manufacturer pushes a Windows Mobile version bump in a timely fashion, so color us impressed to see that Samsung has now released an official 6.5 upgrade for the Jack on AT&T. 6.5 is a relatively minor bump over 6.1 in the non-touch Standard world -- Professional devices are getting the lion's share of improvements -- but users will be happy to find that they're getting an updated Internet Explorer Mobile, Windows Marketplace access, and automated free connections to AT&T WiFi hotspots (anything to offload cellular strain, right?). Grab it now from Samsung's site, make sure your battery's charged, and let 'er rip.Samsung unleashes WinMo 6.5 upgrade for AT&T's Jack originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Wed, 04 Nov 2009 19:21:00 EST. Mac Mini and iMacs to be in short supply, update coming soon?
Posted on September 29, 2009 | No Comments
Apple has apparently told its direct-sales partners like the Apple Stores not to order new iMacs or Mac Minis and don't expect any more shipments either. This can mean only one of two things: Apple is going bankrupt or there are new models coming real soon.

Verizon finally releasing BlackBerry Storm update this weekend
Posted on May 29, 2009 | No Comments
An incredible way to start the weekend, Storm owners: Verizon is finally pulling the trigger on a firmware update, which will be available to all comers starting on Sunday at 3PM Eastern time. If that's too much trouble, you'll alternatively be able to sit back, chill, and wait for the over-the-air version to hit, which should follow on at 10PM. Verizon tells us that it'll be releasing 4.7.0.148, as rumored -- just a tiny bump from the failed build 141 that had been rumored before that, but all told, far, far too long since the last official update was rolled out. We can only assume this has been tested better than a NASA launch at this point, so you're on notice, guys.Filed under: Cellphones, Handhelds

Apple quietly updates $999 MacBook, again — goes back to school with free iPod touch
Posted on May 27, 2009 | No Commentsvar digg_url = 'http://digg.com/apple/Apple_Quietly_Updates_999_Macbook_Again'; Shh, don't tell the press but Apple just bumped the specs on its entry-level white MacBook again. The bump measures in at just 0.13GHz on the processor, 133MHz more oomph from the DDR2 SDRAM, and an extra 40GB of disk space. Still more is more better especially when it's
free$999. Apple also took the wraps off its back-to-school deal which nabs a decent discount on Macs (up to $200 off MacBook Pro) and tosses in a 8GB iPod touch (after $229 on-line rebate) to sweeten the deal.
Update: Looks like the battery might have been given a nudge to a rated 5-hours, up from 4.5.
[Thanks, Jasper K., Daniel, and Anshu P.]
