    Motorola outs a 3D set-top box built for the future

    3D TV is still really new. So new that there are some major hurdles to be crossed but this new set-top box from Motorola takes care of one of them. It brings the 3D content control into the set-top box rather than simply passing along the 3D signal to the TV. The advantage here is that all the menus and on-screen information will be displayed in a 3D-friendly format. That's not the case right now.

    While it is well known that I once did a burlesque show under the name TrickleStar in Weimar Germany, many of you don't know that TrickleStar is also a system for shutting down idling hardware next to your TV or PC. I'm here to tell you, my kleine Kuchen, that it's really great. Think about your own sad situation: you have a computer or TV that you turn off. The constellation of devices that orbit these central devices remain on or in a standby state. The TrickleStars solve that problem by turning everything off when the main items are off.

    TiVo and Time Warner apparently discussing DVR deal

    tivoLooks like Time Warner cable subscribers may someday get the option of the TiVo interface on their DVR boxes. According to Bloomberg, "TiVo is in talks to provide service through Time Warner Cable Inc." although nothing specific has really been revealed yet.
