Purported Google Chrome OS netbook specs don’t quite add up

A handful of sites are linking to a post on NetbookNews.de, which links to a post on a UK-based site called IBTimes titled Google Chrome OS-based netbook tech specs are out. It seems fishy and the site doesn’t get a lot of traffic in the first place but if the post ends up being credible, I apologize.

Intel's Pine Trail Atom processor (1.66 GHz Atom N450/unveiled earlier this year) is one of the key elements in the LifeBook MH380, Fujitsu's latest netbook. The MH380 has a 10.1-inch glossy LCD screen with LED backlight, 200nits brightness and no less than 1,366x768 resolution. What's quite unique design-wise is the tiny circle area (next to the trackpad), which enables circular motion scrolling.

You may or may not recall that a couple weeks ago, Acer’s ION-powered AspireRevo nettop showed up on Newegg.com for the low, low price of $199. While the machine featured some relatively-impressive specs (Atom N230 CPU, NVIDIA ION, XP Home, etc.), there's now a new entrant to the AspireRevo line that bumps the CPU up to dual-core status, doubles the RAM, and adds Windows 7 Home Premium as well as a wireless connection.

iPad rumors abound! Apple to announce on January 19! Shipping in May!

Jeremy "The Animal" Horowitz just posted a list of exciting new rumors about the iPad including the announce date - around January 19, just in time to relegate CES news to the dustbin of history - and that it will be available in May. The device is just awaiting Steve Jobs' signature on the dotted line.
There will be two devices, a 3G and a non-3G version and the resolution will be 720p or so on 10.7-inch screen. It will also run iPhone OS and have dedicated media systems as well as an ebook reader built in.

EeeBox PC gets Ion power, can handle 1080p video

ASUS' NVIDIA Ion-powered EeeBox PC has gotten sort of official. It's on ASUS' website now, at least, although there's still not much in the way of pricing or availability. The specs look pretty nice, though, with a whisper-quiet setup thanks to a dual-core Atom N330 CPU, 2GB of RAM, 250GB SATA hard drive, 802.11b/g/n wireless, card reader, and, of course, the horsepower to push full 1080p video.
