Hello Kitty camcorder
Posted on June 10, 2010 | No Comments
Japanese camera maker Exemode announced [JP] the Hello Kitty DV520KT today, a simple 5MP CMOS camcorder that only has one thing going for it: it features mega-popular cartoon cat Hello Kitty saying "Hi" on the hardware. That's what it probably makes perfect for young girls though.

Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus now live on O2 UK
Posted on May 28, 2010 | No Comments
If you bundle the original Pre in with the Pre Plus -- and you pretty much can, considering how closely related they are -- this is quickly becoming one of the most protracted, phased mobile product launches in memory. Yes, that's right: as promised, O2 UK has now launched both the Pre Plus alongside its scrappier little sibling, the Pixi Plus, and you can get either one for as little as zero quid depending on how you play your cards. The Pixi Plus goes in your pocket for free on any plan, while the Pre Plus stays free as long as you spend at least £40 ($58) a month and scales up to £99 ($143) on the cheaper plans. We've got to believe there's some awesome new (like, legitimately new) hardware in Palm's pipe at this point -- but a free webOS device is always a tough offer to pass up, right?Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus now live on O2 UK originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 28 May 2010 21:13:00 EST. Toshiba’s 64GB SDXC card to finally go on sale (in Japan)
Posted on April 15, 2010 | No Comments
Remember way back in August last year, when Toshiba announced the "world's first 64GB SDXC card"? Well, actually Panasonic was faster (even though that company waited until January this year with its announcement), and it already has been selling their own 64GB card [JP] in Japan since February. But starting this Saturday, Japanese users can choose between that and the Toshiba card, as announced [JP] by Toshiba today.

XFX “gunning” for Nvidia with the ATI HD 5970
Posted on March 30, 2010 | No Comments
Well, it looks like XFX packaging is going to be a little more secure then the stuff that Amazon uses. You'll have to be careful leaving the store with this stuff, XFX appears to be packaging their version of the ATI HD 5970 in a replica of a H&K P90. Catchy, but hopefully they don't lose any customers to gunfire.

Tiny $20 camcorder shoots 640×480 video
Posted on March 10, 2010 | No Comments
Look at this little guy. It’s just a $20 camcorder that promises to shoot 640x480 video at 30 frames per second. Will you get awesome looking footage out of it? Probably not. Probably absolutely not. Maybe. Probably not, though.

This new Kingston 16GB microSDHC card is fast, really fast
Posted on February 15, 2010 | No Comments
MicroSDHC might soon be able to play with the big boys. This Kingston model is the first Class 10 microSDHC memory card and has a minimum data transfer rate of 10MB/sec. That's over twice as fast as the current Class 4 standard with its 4MB/sec speed. Too bad these cards are more than three times the cost of Class 4 16GB cards right now.

Pink Palm Pixi spotted on Sprint system, Cupid is like ‘boomshakalaka’
Posted on January 4, 2010 | No CommentsYou know what's in just over a month? We'll tell you: Valentine's Day. You know what's coming up this Thursday? Something "new" from Palm. Now, we won't go so far as to say that a pink Palm Pixi is definitely in the cards for a CES unveiling, but a pink Palm Pixi is most definitely showing up in Sprint's internal systems (according to this graphic, anyway). So, what say you, readers -- is a new hue of webOS just around the bend, or are we just lovestruck?

Multifl0w project teaches Apple a thing or two about iPhone multitasking
Posted on November 30, 2009 | No CommentsThough it's relented on MMS and copy / paste, Apple has stubbornly, steadfastly continued to hold the line on the multitasking issue throughout the iPhone's two and a half-year career. Though it has a point about traditional multitasking burning through power, competing smartphone platforms -- scratch that, every competing platform -- has proven that it's still plenty possible to get a full days' life out of a battery while running a full host of apps in the background. Of course, the jailbroken iPhone community knows this full well, which is why there are a number of utilities available for backgrounding apps, but maybe none quite as slick as the just-released multifl0w. Taking a cue from the Pre, multifl0w adds backgrounded apps to a horizontally-scrollable gallery of cards; the only thing it's missing is a swipe gesture for quitting, but it's a minor point. Apple, we know you're seeing how good this is -- is there a defensible reason for why we still have to h4x0r our handsets to get this?

Video: Sony Ericsson Rachel tantalizingly teased
Posted on October 30, 2009 | No Comments
With the Sony Ericsson Rachel (otherwise known as the XPERIA X3 or, more recently, the X10) having already made numerous unofficial appearances across the Interwebs, it seems like Sony Ericsson's down to show their cards a bit early - or at least the back and sides of them.
Ghost hunters, rejoice. Not only does this $150 LED flashlight record 640x480 video at 30 frames per second, it’s also got an eight foot nightvision range that allows it to record in complete darkness.
