XScorch 360 controller brings a mouse to the Xbox
Posted on March 22, 2010 | No Comments
Like many FPS gamers of a certain age, I started with the WASD keyboard/mouse control system. As such, I have issues with using a controller to play games on a console, and really wish that someone would come out with a keyboard and mouse control system. There's been a few that come close, and the Scorch 360 looks like another also-ran.

Dear Internet: Bill Keller doesn’t know the first thing about the “Apple Slate”
Posted on October 26, 2009 | No Comments
Good old "Two-Fist" Bill Keller, executive editor of the NYT, dropped the Apple bomb at a pay-vs.-free talk at an "off-the-record" staff meeting which, luckily, was been recorded for posterior. His talk mostly revolves around how the NYT will survive the web, itself an important and fascinating topic. However, the Internerds aren't happy with all of that. Keller, probably tipped off by his staff, mentions the "Apple slate."
You see, after hemming and hawing about all this "digitalization" of the computer nerds with all their Kindles and ebooks and supercomputers he lets loose with this rocking little piece of fluff:
"... we need to figure out the right journalistic product to deliver to mobile platforms and devices. I’m hoping we can get the newsroom more actively involved in the challenge of delivering our best journalism in the form of Times Reader, iPhone apps, WAP, or the impending Apple slate, or whatever comes after that."
BLAM! WAP! When a man past a certain age plops the word WAP next to the words "impeding Apple slate," you can be sure said man knows nothing on either topic. -
Feel free to drink your shower water, kids
Posted on August 26, 2009 | No CommentsNormally, you probably wouldn't consider drinking your own shower water after you had used it, but throw a couple of plants in there and you may well reconsider. Or, perhaps you'll react like the Drudge-ushered Daily Mail commenters and say stuff like “WHAT IS THIS GARBAGE, I EARN THE RIGHT TO WASTE WATER AND I'LL BE DAMNED IF SOME EGGHEAD SCIENTIST SAYS OTHERWISE.”

Act now, and your PS3, PSP peripheral can receive the Official Sony Seal of Quality
Posted on June 30, 2009 | No CommentsGamers of a certain age will remember the Official Nintendo Seal of Quality. It was a little mark placed on official Nintendo products in the NES/SNES era (well, that's when it mattered) that let buyers know that, yes, this product has been blessed by Nintendo. It will not harm you, your cat or your NES. Fast-forward several years and now Sony has gotten into the business of slapping their logo on officially licensed gear with the “Official Licensed Product” gimmick.
I think I speak for everyone when I say, “IT’S ABOUT TIME!” I mean, where were you the first time you wished for a machine that could predict someone’s age range just by emitting a mosquito buzzing sound that only people in certain age ranges could hear, thus alerting you to that person’s true age? I was so young I can barely remember when I first wished this would become a reality. Now that it’s here, I can hardly believe it! All these emotions! It’s like falling in love, getting your heart broken, and going to a funeral of a coworker you never actually met but exchanged e-mails with a few times, all in a split second!
