Nokia throws down a €15 bike cell phone charger
Posted on June 3, 2010 | No Comments
It only makes sense to harness a bit of your bike's pedal power to do good. That's exactly what Nokia's bicycle charging kit does, although we must admit that it's not the first of its kind by any means. These sort of chargers have been around for years, but this is the first one we've from a company such as Nokia.

RCA’s AirPower has been repackaged to better hide the snake oil inside
Posted on March 30, 2010 | No Comments
The RCA Airnergy AirPower is curious little device. It is supposed to harvest WiFi signals and convert them into usable energy, which is then sent out over a USB cable to charge a gadget. Yeah, think of the possibilities. But while the technology really does exist and has been demonstrated, it seems a little to easy. Apparently RCA is serious about the product line and has ditched the name Airnergy in favor of AirPower and is now showing off a slightly more polished look than the ones seen at CES 2010.

Nokia initiates shocking charger recall program (update: affects 14 million)
Posted on November 9, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Peripherals, Nokia
New Nokia owners take notice: Espoo just launched an "exchange program" for certain Nokia-branded chargers. According to the world's largest handset maker:"We have determined that the plastic covers of the affected chargers could come loose and separate, exposing the charger's internal components and potentially posing an electric shock hazard if certain internal components are touched while the charger is plugged into a live socket."
The chargers affected are models AC-3E and AC-3U, manufactured between June 15 and August 9, 2009, and model AC-4U, manufactured between April 13 and October 25, 2009. Fortunately, Nokia provides a website that removes all the guesswork from obtaining your free replacement.
Update: Gulp, looks like we're talking about 14 million defective chargers.

Nokia initiates charger exchange program
Espoo, Finland - Nokia today initiated a charger exchange program, in which consumers owning certain Nokia-branded chargers manufactured by a third-party supplier are recommended to exchange these chargers for free replacements.
During a routine quality control process, Nokia identified a potential product quality issue with certain chargers manufactured by one of its third-party suppliers. The plastic covers of the affected chargers could come loose and separate, exposing the charger's internal components and potentially posing an electrical shock hazard if certain internal components are touched while the charger is plugged into a live socket. Nokia is not aware of any incidents or injuries related to these chargers.
Only a limited number of chargers of certain model types manufactured by a single third-party supplier during a specific time period are within the scope of the exchange program. They are the AC-3E and AC-3U models, manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009; and the AC-4U model, manufactured between April 13, 2009 and October 25, 2009.
For more information, including how consumers can check to see if their chargers are part of this exchange program, Nokia has established a website. Consumers are asked to visit http://chargerexchange.nokia.com or their local Nokia website.
Nokia recommends consumers with chargers within the scope of this exchange program to stop using the charger and exchange it for a free replacement.Nokia initiates shocking charger recall program (update: affects 14 million) originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Mon, 09 Nov 2009 04:30:00 EST. The HyperMac will charge your Mac notebook and iPhone off the grid
Posted on November 3, 2009 | No Comments
The HyperMac from Koyono aims to keep your notebook and iPhone charged when you don't have access to a power outlet. If they had swappable batteries, this wouldn't be an issue. Apple, however, decided that no one actually wants to change batteries on the go anymore; that's a last gen feature. That's fine. The HyperMac looks like it should get the job done.

Although only a few Wii games support the light gun interface, if you're a heavy player you may want to look into getting the $39.99 Wand Action Pack if you're planning on adding a controller to your line-up.
This kit includes Nyko's Wand Wiimote - essentially an exact clone of Nintendo's product - along with a sleeve and gun attachment for light gun games.
