A look at the next iPhone, as it leaks across the Internet

Today, Gizmodo won at the Internet, and all it took was $10,000. That’s the current price being whispered amongst the blogging circles as what was paid for a prototype of the next iPhone — yep, next, as in the one that isn’t announced yet — purportedly found on the floor of a bar in San [...]

iPad runs circles around Snapdragon-powered Nexus One

So, the iPad? I hear it's good, but again, it's not for me—don't cry. But what's indisputable? The fact that it's pretty damn fast. Even though the processor is nothing more than a stock Apple A4, it wallops the fancy Snapdragon, the 1GHz CPU found in the Nexus One (and others). The iPad: useful (to some), and quite quick. Neat.

Uh-oh: Looks like the Nexus One kind of sucks at multi-touch (Video)

Uh oh. On at least a few occasions, Android developers have mentioned to me that the multi-touch sensors on certain Android handsets — especially the Nexus One — seemed a bit.. flaky. I’d had nothing but solid experiences while dabbling with multi-touch in all of the apps I could find that support it, so I chalked [...]

Here’s a steampunk computer mouse for your enjoyment

And you thought the steampunk movement died years ago. Nope, it's still alive and well in some circles on the World Wide Web and this stunning computer mouse proves it has a right to live. Look at it. Everything from the mouse buttons, to the braided cord, to the USB port gets me going. Too bad it will likely be plugged into a Dell laptop or something just as mundane.

  • DECAF, the anti-Microsoft COFEE, pulled. It was a stunt designed to rally y’all.

DECAF, the anti-Microsoft COFEE, pulled. It was a stunt designed to rally y’all.

Ladies and gentlemen: we were worked. The other I mentioned DECAF, which was promoted as the anti Microsoft-COFEE. While I still don't understand people's fascination with the forensics tool, DECAF promised to protect users against whatever the hell COFEE does. Only it doesn't: DECAF is a scam. Well, "scam" is a harsh word, more like "and let this be a lesson to you." I believe those are called "teachable moments" in politics circles these days. (See: that beer summit from a few months back.)

    It’s a desk! It’s a tricycle! It’s $500!

I'm a simple man. I don't ask for much, I try to do the right thing. So why must everything I want be priced at $500? Take this mobile desk, for example: part tricycle, part desk, all awesome (except the price tag, of course).

Cable skips iTunes synchronization foreplay and gets straight to the charging

Believe it or not, sometimes people just want to plug an Apple i-Device into a USB port to charge the thing without waking the sleeping giant that is iTunes. As much as I love hearing my desktop fan start up like a jet engine while iTunes slowly stumbles its way to life only to tell me that the version I downloaded yesterday now needs to be updated again via an 80+ megabyte download, it’d be nice to just charge my i-Whatsit in peace.

  • Review: Kensington Nightstand Charging Dock for iPhone, iPod Touch

Review: Kensington Nightstand Charging Dock for iPhone, iPod Touch

Short Version: If you’ve never purchased a charging dock for your iPhone or iPod Touch and you’re without an alarm clock then the Kensington Nightstand is a perfect alternative for you, friend. Being able to check on the weather first thing in the morning is an added bonus. The $40 price tag might give some of you sticker shock considering the Rise & Shine app is free from the App Store, but a quick look around to other iPhone/iPod accessory vendors quickly reveals that the Nightstand is actually a good deal. If you’re looking to buy a charging dock that is.

    Review: Joby Gorillapod SLR-Zoom

We actually have two reviews in one in this case; the Joby Gorillapod SLR-Zoom, and the optional ballhead mount. Do I recommend you trust your expensive camera gear to this device? Simply put, yes. I have a Nikon D300, and I put my precious on the Gorillapod with it's 18-200mm lens on it, and it didn't buckle.
